Daily Lesson Log in DATE AND QUARTER FIRST
3:20-4:10 (9-Compassion)
MATHEMATICS TIME 4:10-5:00 (9-Patriotism)
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of quadratic equations,
Standard inequalities and functions, and rational algebraic equations.
B. Performance The learner is able to investigate thoroughly mathematical relationships in various
Standards situations, formulate real-life problems involving quadratic equations, inequalities and
functions, and rational algebraic equations and solve them using a variety of
strategies.
C. Learning Solves quadratic equations by completing the square. (M9AL-Ia-b-1)
Competencies / 1. Write perfect square trinomials as a square of a binomial.
Objectives 2. Find the solutions of a quadratic equations using completing the square.
3. Apply the concept of solving quadratic equations by factoring in real life
equations.
The teacher discusses with the students the process of arriving at the answers.

Furthermore, she asks the students about the mathematical skills or principles
that they used to get the correct answers. She tells them that to solve quadratic
equations using Completing the Square method, you must simply make the
expression x2 + bx into a perfect square by simply adding the square of one-half
D. Discussing new Direction: Examine the process carefully and answer the questions that follow.
concepts and x2 -2x -2 = 0
practicing new x2 -2x = 2
skills #1 x2 -2x +1 = 2 + 1
( x-1 )2 = 3
√( x−1) 2 = √ 3
x – 1= √ 3
x = 1 √3
solution : { 1+ √ 3 ,1−√ 3 }
Questions :
1) In x2 -2x -2 = 0, what is done with the value -2?
( expected answer: it is transposed to the right side).
2) How is 1 obtained in x2 -2x +1 = 2 + 1
b 2
( expected answer: it is obtained by using the formula ( ¿ ¿ ).
2
3) How do you call the process used to find the solutions?
(expected answer : completing the square )
