Definition of Terms

Career decision making self-efficacy. It refers to career decision making self

efficacy beliefs. Specifically, it is measured through assessing personal and occupational

features, gathering occupational information, and realistic planning (Bozgeyikli, 2004).

In the study, career decision making self efficacy is one of the dependent

variables which will be measured using a career decision making self efficacy scale

based on the one developed by (Bozgeyikli, 2004).

Research Design and Methodology

Design of the study

 Mixed-method design - quantitative and qualitative inquiry

Mixed methods research is a research design with philosophical assumptions as

well as methods of inquiry. As a methodology, it involves philosophical

assumptions that guide the direction of the collection and analysis of data and the

mixture of qualitative and quantitative data in a single study or series of studies.

˻ Its central premise is that the use of quantitative and qualitative approaches in

˹ combination provides a better understanding of research problems that either

approach alone. (Creswell & Plano Clark, 2007)

Quantitative inquiry – survey research is used to gather information about

population groups to “learn about their characteristics, opinions, attitudes and

previous experiences” (Leedy & Omrod, 2005, p. 183). This is done by

administering a written questionnaire to a group of respondents, and the

responses to the questions will form the data for the study (Fraenkel & Wallen,

2009).

Qualitative inquiry – Case-Study; Multiple in-depth interview, analysis of artifacts

The Respondents

 The respondents of the study will include 100 stratified randomly chosen

MTG trainees from 2000-2010 from all over the Philippines.

 The respondents in the qualitative inquiry will be chosen through purposive

sampling.
