Science 10 - Q2W2

This document provides a weekly learning plan for a Grade 10 Science class with objectives focused on light and electromagnetic waves. Over two days, students will review the electromagnetic spectrum, discuss key terms like wavelength and frequency, complete an activity to identify colors in the visible light spectrum, and perform a rainbow experiment using a flashlight, mirror, and water. As an assignment, students are asked to research the differences between mirrors and lenses and their various types and uses. The plan was prepared by the Grade 10 adviser and checked by the school principal.

Quarter 2 Date November 23-25, 2022

DAY 1&2
LESSON TITLE Light and Electromagnetic Waves
OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
 Cite examples of practical applications of the different regions of
EM waves, such as the use of radio waves in telecommunications
CORE/CORE CONTENT The learners demonstrate understanding of the different regions of the
electromagnetic spectrum.
LEARNING RESOURCES Nurturing Science 10
Science Quarter 2 – SLM 1
FACE-TO-FACE CLASSROOM-BASED ACTIVITIES
1. Prayer
- Call a student to lead the opening prayer and explain the food for thought of the week.

2. Presenting the Learning Competencies

- Show the students the objectives or the learning competencies of the lesson/topic.

3. Recall
- Ask the students to enumerate the regions of electromagnetic spectrum.

4. Motivation
- Ask the student “how ca we see trough things around us?”

5. Presenting the New Lesson

- The teacher will introduce a new topic which is the light and electromagnetic wave by giving examples of its
uses in our daily lives as well as its importance to the advancement of the scientific technology.

6. Discussion of the Concepts

- The teacher will discuss the following terms and give each an example:
 Electromagnetic spectrum
 Light and its characteristics
 Frequency
 Wavelength
 Colors of the light
 Luminous V.S. Non-luminous
 Reflection V.S. Refraction
 Dispersion

7. Developing Mastery
- The students will do an activity
Activity 1: The Visible Light Spectrum
Instructions: Answer the following questions using the given table of the visible light spectrum.

1) Which of the following has the longest wavelength?

2) What color can an electromagnetic wave produce in 520 – 565 nm?
3) What is the wavelength of the color Cyan?
4) Which has the shortest wavelength?
5) What color can we see in 435 – 500 nm?

8. Application and Generalization

- the student will do the rainbow experiment using the following materials
- Clear bowl
- Water
- Flashlight
- Small mirror
- Clean bondpaper

Instruct the students to do the following task/s as their assignment.

1. Assignment (required)
Instruct the student to research what is the difference between mirrors and lenses. Also, make them research
the different types of mirrors and lenses and their uses.
