Contact ID Reporting Codes 1

1. PACOM RTU CONTACT ID REPORTING CODES

Supported Contact ID Reporting Codes are dependant on the RTU firmware version used. Supervisory
commands are supported from RTU firmware version 4.02 onwards. Specific Event Types supported
from RTU firmware 4.06 onwards.

Messages are sent using the standard Ademco Contact ID message format:

R U
<LF>00 rrrr 18 Exxx gg Cyyy <CR>
Where:
<LF> is the ASCII line feed character
"rrrr" is the RTU number 0001 -> 9998 (9999 for all base station messages)
"xxx" is the event code
"gg" is the group or area number
"yyy" is the zone number
<CR> is the ASCII carriage return character

All characters are sent as ASCII, including the spaces where shown. The letters 'E' and 'R' are
alternatives, 'E' being for alarm events and 'R' being for restore events. The letters 'C' and 'U' are also
alternatives, 'C' being for zone number and 'U' being for user number. Most events include a zone
number. Only a few opening and closing type messages have user numbers. All messages must be
responded to with either an ACK (1400Hz tone within 1 second) or NAK (no tone for 1 second).

The following lists define the event, group and zone field entries for each type of message in the
format:
• Exxx gg CzzzAlarm event
• or Rxxx gg Czzz Restore event
• or Exxx gg Uzzz Opening event with user number
• or Rxxx gg Uzzz Closing event with user number

Generally only the alarm or opening event is indicated but occasionally the restore or closing event may
be indicated for clarity.

1.1. Dial Backup Details & Message Filtering:

1. Whenever it reports to the 3rd party receiver RTU puts out "dialout connect" message in the GMS
Log. This message gets reported on GMS only once irrespective on number of messages reported to
the receiver.

2. This connect message will be filtered from the dialup message queue before being put into the
queue so that it doesn't get sent via Contact ID and so it doesn't increment the non-important alarms
counter .

3. Error stats are added to help for diagnoses what is happening/causing the controller to dial out and
also any Nak's and the like.
• Number of Important alarms
• Number of Non-important alarms
• Number of dialout due to heartbeat time set.

2 Pacom RTU Contact ID Reporting Codes

"Apply Message Filters before Dialup" flag setting in (Port Parameters-> Modem -> Base Station tab->
Parameters) will decide the filtering of the messages to be done or not before putting onto the queue
based on filter messages setting. It applies for all types of reporting (Pacom, Contact ID, SIA, and
SMS).

If there is a port with Backup Priority (Dual Reporting), and is not a Pacom message then the connect
message will also be filtered.
If the "Dialup Type" option is selected in (Port Parameters-> Modem -> Base Station tab-> Parameters)
then based on the type selected the heatbeat message is reported to the receiver.

Timings for heartbeat reporting based on Dialup Type numbers 1 to 8 for Contact ID and SIA formats
are:

Dialup Type Heartbeat Response Time

DialType 1 1 Minute - 2 Minutes

DialType 2 30 Minutes - 60 Minutes

DialType 3 1 Hour - 2 Hours

DialType 4 2 Hours - 4 Hours

DialType 5 4 Hours - 6 Hours

DialType 6 6 Hours - 8 Hours

DialType 7 8 Hours - 10 Hours

DialType 8 10 Hours - 12 Hours

Table 1-1. Dialup Type

If the "Dialback time" & "Random time between time specified (+/-30 mins)" are set then based on the
time selected with +/- 30minutes of the time selected it reports it to the receiver. If the "Random time
between time specified (+/-30 mins)" flag is not set then it reports at the exact time selected.

Note: A Periodic Test report message with Event code '602' and zone number '001' is sent for heartbeating
message transmission (TX) only.
