Jack has just worked four hours at Fashion Unlimited. He is hungry and wants to
take a break. Although the store is very busy, he decides to take a break anyway.
Employment Standards Act
The legislation Employment Standards Act relates to this case because it deals
with the students hours which this legislation covers. The law was broken
because Jack shouldn't just be walking out on his shift when its not time for his
break

Susan’s supervisor at Burger Hut asks her to climb a tall ladder in a narrow area
near the drive-thru window to clean the top half of the wall. Susan does not feel
safe and tells her supervisor that she will not do it.
Occupational Health and Safety Act
The legislation Occupational Health and Safety Act relates because she is
refusing to climb a ladder which she feels unsafe to do.The law has not been
broken because she has the right to refuse a job when she feels not safe doing it.

John applied for the same position as Sarah. He did not get hired. When he
asked the employer to give him a reason, he was told that Sarah was more
educationally qualified. Later, he found out that Sarah only had a Bachelor’s
degree in Science while he had a Master’s degree.
Ontario Human Rights Code
The legislation Ontario Human Rights Code relates to this case because it talks
about how just because Sarah had more educationally more qualified.This law
was broken because everyone is to be treated equally no matter what someone
else has more than.

Linda slipped and fell at work due to a wet floor. There were no any signs to
indicate that the floor was wet. She hurt her back and had to go to physiotherapy.
She did not have to pay for her physiotherapy sessions.
Occupational Health and Safety Act
The legislation Occupational Health and Safety Act relates to this case because it
talks about how the law covers the health bills.This law was not broken because
when she went to her physiotherapy sessions the sessions already got payed for
because of this law

Stephen worked for a local news station. “Jimmy’s Appliance Store” came in to
the station to tape an advertising promotion for a big sale they were going to
have in a week. Later that day, Stephen told his friend about the upcoming sale.
Two days later, a competitor’s store held the same sale.
Freedom of information and Privacy Act
The legislation Freedom of information and Privacy Act relates to this case
because it talks about how they leaked information about the upcoming sale the
store is gonna have.This law was broken because no one should’ve of known
about the sale that's happening so Stephen took advantage of the situation and
told his friends just because he works at that store
