Woodward has released version 4.02 of its GAP software. GAP 4.02 adds new security features that make it incompatible with previous GAP 3 files. To allow continued use of existing GAP 3 licenses, the GAP 4.02 software can operate in a "basic" mode with GAP 3 licenses. GAP 4.02 Release


Product Change / Improvement
Woodward’s Graphical Application Programmer (GAP) functional block diagram programming
language is used for custom programming of Woodward control systems. The 4th generation of
GAP was released in 2018. GAP 4 added the capability for On-Line changes to MicroNet Plus and
included several other enhancements for all GAP products. As originally released, GAP 3 licenses
would not work with GAP 4, however GAP 4 Editor was backwards compatible and could write
GAP 3 files.
GAP 4.02 adds new security features that required changes to the GAP file format. GAP 4.02 is not
backwards compatible with GAP 3. Any file saved using GAP 4 Editor can no longer be accessed
with GAP 3 tools.
For this reason, Woodward has reconfigured GAP Editor 4.02 and Monitor GAP 4.02 software
applications so that they can be used in basic form using existing GAP 3 licenses.

Description
GAP 4.02 software can be downloaded and installed on computers previously licensed with GAP 3.
In this “basic” mode, the software will work much like GAP 3. Enhanced security features will be
available, but other advanced features will not.
In order to enable On-Line Change mode and future advanced features, it is necessary to purchase
a specific license for GAP 4 Editor.
GAP 3 will no longer be updated after March 31, 2020. Existing copies of GAP 3 Editor and Monitor
GAP will continue to function, however new features, updates and bug fixes will be only be provided
for GAP 4. For this reason, Woodward recommends that all users upgrade to GAP 4
Note that an application which is saved in GAP 4 format cannot be opened again in GAP 3.

Updated Products
Woodward will no longer sell new GAP 3 licenses after December 15, 2019.
Download GAP Editor/Monitor 4.02-1
This product requires licensing to operate either as GAP Monitor or GAP Editor.
If installed on a computer which was previously licensed for GAP 3, GAP 4 Editor and Monitor will
recognize the GAP3 license and will function without advanced features.
If a GAP 4 license is installed, the advanced features (On-Line Changes, etc.) will be enabled.
All versions of GAP 4.02 and above support enhanced security protection features.
