• Zone selection console

4
FAS System Response
• Besides providing early notification, the fire alarm system also performs the following critical
functions, whenever applicable:
• Shuts down AHUs to limit the spread of fire and minimize smoke exposure of occupants
• Releases the Access doors for ease of evacuation.
• Starts pressurization fans to clear stairways of smoke for occupants to escape
• Generates alert sounds/Hooters for mass awareness.
• Initiates ventilation fans of basements.
• Monitors Water flow in Sprinkler Lines.
• Monitors CO2 and other flooding system.

FAS- Inspection
Schedule Checks
Daily • Visual inspection of panel trouble ‘led’ signal or location address
• Cleaning & lose contact
• Battery power
Monthly • Operational test by energizing detector & Manual Call Points (MCP)
• Cleaning & contact connection
• Battery backup & Load voltage
Quarterly • Visual inspection of all fire sprinkler devices connected to the alarm. This includes water flow switches, Test of fire
pump monitored points (loss of phase, phase reversal, pump running)
Semi-annual • Test of sprinkler water flow switches (flow water or manually trip flapper)
• Test batteries - load voltage
Annual • Test & visual inspection of panel functionality, LED's, fuses,
• Test panel battery charger Fire alarm should maintain operational and with

Fire Control Room
The fire control room is separated from the remainder of the building by fire-resistive construction,
with all openings protected by assemblies with fire resistive ratings.
It usually contains the following items as a minimum:-
• Voice communication and PA system
• Public telephone
• Stairwell intercom system
• Fire Detection and alarm system control panel
• Building and elevator keys
