Activity:
Procedure: Given the pack of cards, determine
the following ( Numeracy)

5. No. of Spade= 13 6. No. of Aces=4
7. No. of cards of 9 =4 8. No. face cards= 12
9. No. of suits= 4 10. No. of hearts=13

In the computations of probabilities you should

Finding the probability/ chances is just a clue in every situation we experienced. For
instance in Science for the weather, we can have a clue for the possibilities / chances
to have rain or a good weather so that we are always ready especially in times of
emergency. However, playing “braha” is prohibited especially when it involves money
because it is illegal and besides we cannot rely on gambling just to earn a living. We
need to strive --to live!

In every problem there is always a solution. That solution is one of the possibilities.
The teacher asks the following questions:
1. How can we compute the probability of a pack of cards?
2. How many number possible outcomes?
3. How many face cards?
4. How many suits? Name each suits.

4.5 Application More examples are given and the teacher gives a chance to the students who did not
participate during the discussion.
(5 minutes) In a deck of cards compute the probability in drawing
1. a number less than 5
2. diamond with an even number
3. a black face card
4. a club
5. a black hearts

4.6 Assessment Quiz. Determine the probability of the following event.


1. drawing aces from a deck of cards

4. drawing a club or an ace
