Situation: Your arts group is the core committee of the Pasinaya Open House, an annual
event of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), which promote various art forms thru
simultaneous sets of performance across different venues in the CCP building and nearby
establishments. The theme is “Celebrating Philippines Arts from the Region”, your committee is
tasked to brainstorm two possible performances or exhibitions (including individuals, groups, and
institutions that may be involved)for the event.
Fill this table with some ideas. Then it will be the basis for the presentation of your ideas to the
executive officers of CCP.

Art is a human activity that translates life and the world into something aesthetically pleasing.
The Filipino identity in art is not only a question that Filipino scholars have debated on over the
years. This doubt of our authenticity is caused by our colonial past and migration. The subject and
medium are factors that contribute to the “Filipino-ness” of an artwork. Also, the work of art should
represent in the most realistic way possible “without idealizing” it. As times are changing and the
world is becoming borderless, Philippine art struggles, yet it rises to show the world what and how
the Filipino Spirit is.
