Topic 6: "In your opinion, why people raise money for charity?

Have you ever done

anything to raise money for charity?"

1. Nowadays, doing charity work becomes familiar to almost all people in the world, especially
in America. There are currently more than 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in United States.
Each year, people give hundreds of billions of dollars to charity. And I'm just curious about
what really drives people to raise money for charity.Let’s take a look at the top reasons that
people generally donate to charitable causes.

First of all,you can gain new skills in charity work.If you are a member of a team organizing
fund raising events for a local community organization, you learn to work on a team toward a
common goal.Once mastered, the ability to understand and fulfill your role and communicate
effectively with others to accomplish a project stays with you.
Secondly, people often say they donate or volunteer in order to “make a difference".They
would like to see a lasting and tangible change as the result of their contribution. They want to
see an immediate impact, for example food distributed to those who are hungry and other
types of emergency aid.Another element of “making a difference” is simply a grateful spirit
that wishes to give back to society.
Thirdly, many people like to be publicly acknowledged for their gifts to charity. Sometimes just
a simple “thank you” is all a person needs. All of these fulfill a psychological and emotional
need to be recognized. Moreover, another biggest reason to practice charity is to get their
name to become famous. There are so many wealthy people who donate huge amount to
charity just for name-dropping reasons.
Besides, charity work rewards last longer than cash. At the risk of sounding like a cliché, it is
true that by giving we receive. The more we are able to give of our talents, skills and time to a
cause in which we believe, the more others will connect with us.These connections in all their
forms and complexity enrich our lives for the duration.
Afterall, the donor feels good or right to give to a charity. It is wonderful to do something that
helps others and brightens both your days and such experiences cannot be described in
words.
Personally,I have done odd jobs for a day to make money for charity lately.I have run on
errands such as doing hoovering,gardening,dusting,washing up,mowing the lawn,etc...and I
have been paid $5 for a hour of work.

In summary, there is no doubt that participating in doing charity will introduce you to a lot of
lovely people, some of whom may become lifelong friends. You don't have to involve hard
work, just you are simply satisfied and enjoyable while donating.Raising money for charity has
an objective of encouraging people to find ways to help their local charities as well as the
national charities. Your participation makes a real difference.

And remember this old Irish adage…”I love you not because I need you, I need you because I
love you’’

2. I have a healthy life, a happy family, good relationships and I’m grateful because I’m luckier

than unfortunate people out there. They’re hungry, poor, sick people. They often face to

natural disasters, wars, epidemic diseases, etc. The life gives me such much precious things

that it will be unfair if I don’t share anything to them. That’s why I should help them decrease

their difficulties in the life.

I can do many things to help pity people out in many ways such as donating old clothes,

notebooks, and food. One of the simplest ways I usually do is to raise money for charity.

When I was a school girl, my high school made an appeal our generosity for flood victims. I

had too little money to help them. Therefore, I saved my day-to-day pocket money and tried
not to nosh in a week. After that, I could give it to them.

When I was a college student, I joined a charity group. One of our activities at that time was to

give Christmas gifts for HIV AIDS children. Our plan is to organize a charity fair for the

purpose of increasing the charity fund of the group. We made Christmas cards, Christmas

crafts and sold them with books donated by our members. Personally, I give our group

colorful crystal necklaces and bracelets made by myself. We sold out all of them quickly and

had enough money to buy gifts to kids finally.

Sometimes I still like to join the charity activities of my group, although I don’t have as much

free time as I ever had. I also buy some handmade products of disabled people and other

charity organizations anytime I have the chance. I think that’s a helpful way to raise money for

charity as well.

For thousands years, we couldn’t survive individually in the earth without supporting each

other. Therefore, opening our heart for unfortunate people is also to create a chance for us in

the future. No one can say what will happen tomorrow. Maybe we need some help some day,

and there will be many open arms for us.

3. Our life always has many tragedies. Yesterday, some kids orphaned. Today, the flood

comes and destroys a village. Tomorrow, a surgery will fail and a little girl will never can see

the light. Next week, a small bear will be sick and some fellows of its will die from a disease.

In those moments, we should give the world a helping hand to share, encourage and make

the life become better. I remember a song called "Tell me why" of Declan Garbraith. It says

about a world where people don't help, forget the pain of nature and live in a selfish way. But

nowadays, there are too many nice people. They are very humane. Their joy are helping and

easing human suffering. Maybe, their actions make them think that they are very useful for

the world. When they look the happiness of somebody, they'll be happy too.. So, they raise

money for charity. They are my idols and make me want to do something for the world.

However, I am a little girl now. I don't have money. But I heard about the tragic cases

everyday. They make me want to cry and want to live to be a mature person and change the

world. I've done something to raise money for charity. I took part in all the volunteer activities

of my old school such as raising money to help some blind people, some orphan children and

some poor people. I've collected used paper with my friend for seven months. Now we are

intending to use money to buy some books for the children who have to go to school in a

difficult way. They are small actions, but they prepare for my future when I can help the world

much more.
4. Raising money for charity is a meaningful activity in society. You know each year, our

country and others have to face to many disasters such as floods, landslides, earthquakes,

tsunamis... When these disasters passed away, people had to overcome many serious

consequences that it caused. So we need a large amount of money to resolve those

problems. If you're really keen on helping the world become a better place, let's do something

useful: raising money for charity is a good idea. In my opinion, we shouldn't hesitate to reach

out to people and encourage them to help you as everyone usually has the tendency of

wanting to contribute. They just don't know where to start from. I am sure you will get a

tremendous response in everything that you undertake with a good heart. . I took part in a lot

of charity activities which my university and my local organized. One way I often do make

money is sell some things which I don't use any more such as: papers, cans, bottles. I use

this small money to buy new books, pens for poor children. Sometimes I also donate old

books, clothes for children in orphanages. I'm really happy when seeing they smile and say

thank to me. Although I am a student without much money, I hope what I do can help some

people who are less lucky than me will have a better life. We need to act together to against

disasters, poverty to make the world more and more better. And I need you do it with me.

5. To live is to share. If you share just some small things for anyone, you will feel very

comfortable and really relieved.Doing charity does not mean you will lose a lot of money for

people whom you don't know, only some small actions such as sharing some old clothes, text

books...so on. The poor very appreciate your small gifts, because they

don't have as much treasure as you, they can't enjoy a fullfil and adequate life. Nowadays,

money is an useful means to do anything, but as for someone, money is no object. It is

indispensable condition for life, so everyone has to work day after day to earn their livings, but

it's not enough. People are a kind of animals which has love, sharing and altruism; some of

them can't bear seeing their agonies, they help them with all their heart, they feel sorry for the

poor, they regard their help as their responsibility for that social. But some tikes take

advantage of this help, they will be watched on TV or listened on the radio, they do charity

with a view to advertising their companies.

As for me, I don't have enough money to do big charity, sometimes, on the way I go to school

or come back home, I give beggars some money, or share some clothes with friends who is

poorer than me, but I do it with all my heart.
