F. Read the text and tick / for the correct statements.
Last night, I was having dinner with my family when the lights suddenly went off. It was
pitch black. We were taken aback. I hit the dining table and hurt my leg. Luckily, my
mother found a torch while my father used it to look for candles. He tripped over a chair
and banged his knee. He managed to find the candles in the cabinet drawer and lit them.

There were no lights in any other houses and streets as well. The neighbourhood looked
like a ghost town. We knew there had been a power cut. We just had to wait for the
power to come back on again. We were glad that we finished our dinner. I had not
realised until then how much we depend on electricity. There was nothing to do. I could
not watch television. I could not play computer games. However, I tried to read with
candlelight but it was not easy.

In the end I gave up trying to do anything. I went to bed. It was hot since there is no fan
or air conditioner. But I dozed off after a while. I woke up in the morning and the power
was back on. It was a relieve.
