During the 6-day Brigada Eskwela from August 14 to 19, 2023, I, as a teacher,
actively participated in various activities aimed at preparing our school for the
upcoming academic year. Before the implementation, our School Brigada Coordinator
Mrs. Mercy H. Monforte presented the things that we need to do. We have our
meeting together with our School Principal Mrs. Dolores V. Abregana. First we
conducted recoreda around the town and placed posters in every barangay . We
strictly adhered to the prohibition of solicitation and focused on voluntary work. Our
Brigada Coordinator created the Brigada Eskwela Working Committees, ensuring that
teachers, non-teaching personnel, parents, learners, community members, and
stakeholders were all part of the effort. In the pre-implementation stage, we
conducted extensive public awareness campaigns to promote the importance of
Brigada Eskwela.
We established partnerships for resource mobilization, carefully identifying target
resources and potential volunteers. I helped draft Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) to
outline responsibilities between the school and its partners. During the program
implementation, I directed and monitored the activities outlined in the school work
plan. I guided work teams, ensuring tasks were performed efficiently, and monitored
actual accomplishments against identified needs. Managing administrative and
financial matters, I provided support and managed funds generated for Brigada
Eskwela. We recorded all in-kind donations and services accurately while offering
logistical support to volunteers with materials, first aid kits, and refreshments. Each
day, we conducted inventories of materials used.
Early morning of August 14, 2023, the first day of B.E., teachers, stakeholers
from different agencies participated on the Brigada Eskwela Kick Off. We conducted a
very short program to formally open the BE Kick Off and acknowledge everyone who
voluntarily participate in the said event. During the opening program in our school, the
in charge of Brigada Eskwela talk about everything about the schedules, work
assignment and other concerns for Brigada Eskwela. After the program, teachers and
volunteers from different organizations went to their respective tasks.
The energy was palpable as volunteers, including eager learners and dedicated
parents, gathered to start Brigada Eskwela. Our initial task was a campus-wide clean-
up involving sweeping the grounds to remove litter and debris. We ensured each
volunteer's attendance was meticulously recorded, appreciating their commitment
from day one.
Our commitment grew more on the second day as volunteers, once again
including parents and students, joined us. The teamwork was inspiring as we assessed
classrooms for unnecessary decorations and posters. Oversized signages with
commercial content were taken down, aligning with the guidelines. Volunteers
demonstrated their dedication as they meticulously removed distractions from
classroom walls. We ensured clean schools by clearing classrooms of unnecessary
materials, decorations, and signage per the guidelines. As we wrapped up the day, we
acknowledged and thanked each participant, recognizing their vital role in the process.
