M At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to punctuate sentences using capital letters and full stops correctly.
At the end of the lesson, some pupils will be able to plan, draft and write two simple sentences about their family with
C guidance.
1. Put the pupils into pairs or small groups.
2. Give them a time limit (e.g. 3 minutes) and ask them to write down as many words from the topic

1. Activity 1:
➢ Review the model text from the last lesson by playing the CD track 16 for the text (SB p.11)
while pupils read along
➢ Pupils use the sentence beginnings to tell their partner about their family (two or more
sentences).
2. Activity 2:
➢ Read the writing tip aloud.
➢ Explain and point out the two examples.
➢ Ask pupils to look for examples in the writing tip in the text in Activity 1.
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT
➢ Provide pupils with more examples and write them on the board.
➢ Read out the text and encourage pupils to say where in the text a full stop should go and
where the letters need to be capitalised.
3. Activity 3:
➢ Have pupils write two or more sentences about their family in their notebooks or for
classroom display. They could add the family photos if they are not too valuable to them.
➢ Collect the writing and use it to informally assess learning in this unit.
➢ Give positive and constructive feedback to pupils using your notes on their performance
during this unit.
1. Play a miming game. One pupils say a sentence using can/can’t.
III. POST LESSON 2. The rest of the pupils listen and do the action.
3. Extension activity: Guide pupils to write their learning diary.
