This document outlines a lesson plan on Einstein's general theory of relativity for a 12th grade physical science class. The lesson aims to have students define general relativity, differentiate it from Newtonian mechanics, and explain its consequences. It includes objectives, instructional materials, and an outline of the lesson which involves reviewing the previous lesson, presenting and discussing the topic through analysis and examples, and assessing student learning through questions.

SAN ANTONINO NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

Burgos District

Date June 22, 2023

Grade Level 12
Subject Title PHYSICAL SCIENCE
No. of Hours/Semester 80/Semester
Subject Description This learning area is designed to investigate physical and chemical phenomena
through scientific inquiry, application of scientific models, theories and laws of order
to explain and predict events in the physical environment.
Content EINSTEIN’S GENERAL THEORY OF RELATIVITY
Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of 1. Relativity and the Big
Bang 2. Planets in and beyond the Solar System
Performance Standard Create a video presentation that details the impact of the Theory of Relativity to
human.
Learning Competency Explain the consequences of the postulates of General Relativity (e.g., correct
and Code predictions of shifts in the orbit of Mercury, gravitational bending of light,
and black holes)- S11/12PS-IVi-j-71
Objectives After going through this topic, you are expected to:
a. Define general theory of relativity;
b. Determine the differences of Newtonian mechanics and Maxwell’s
electromagnetic theory; and
c. Explain the consequences of the postulates of General Relativity.

A. Before the Lesson
Daily Routine:
The teacher asks a student to lead a short prayer followed by the checking of students’ attendance through the use
of class card. Before the class commence, the teacher makes sure that the learning environment is conducive for
learning. All things must be in proper order like the seating arrangement. The teacher will also remind the
students to behave well all throughout the lesson and observe minimum hygiene protocols like wearing of
facemasks.
1. Review of the Previous Lesson:
The Teacher will first have a recap of the last topic or subject before going through the next lesson on
physical science. The teacher will say: last week, we studied about the special relativity, who among you can
differentiate the special relativity postulates?
Presentation of the Topic:
Today, we are going to discuss about the Einstein’s General Theory Of Relativity.
B. During the Lesson
1. Analysis: The Teacher will facilitate the discussion of Einstein’s General Theory Of Relativity using
powerpoint presentation and chalkboard. The teacher will instruct the students to record the important
words that they will learn from the discussion.

Discussion: Einstein was led to this new theory of gravity by thinking about observers in accelerated motion. He
imagined a spaceship far away from gravitational influences. In such a spaceship at rest or in uniform motion
relative to the distant stars, everything within the ship would float freely.
Abstraction: Engage the students in the discussion of Einstein’s General Theory Of Relativity.
Application: Picture Analysis
Directions: Discuss the bigbang theory base on the picture below:

Generalization: Ask student: What is the General theory of relativity?

C. After the Lesson
1. Assessment.
In a ½ sheet of paper, answer the following questions:
1. Who is Albert Einstein?
2. What is the general theory of relativity is all about?
2. Agreement: The teacher will ask the students to share their learnings to their friends and families.
