This module provides advanced instruction in engineering surveying techniques for a Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying programme. Specifically, it focuses on setting out vertical curves in highway construction and earthworks. Students will learn to design vertical curves, compute elements of parabolic curves, determine sight distances, and calculate areas, volumes, and bills of quantities for earthworks. Assessment includes a final exam worth 60% and continuous assessment of assignments and a midterm worth 40%. The module will be taught through a combination of lectures and hands-on lab sessions.
