Technical Support Instructional Guide:

How to Install the USB Virtual COM Driver in


Windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10



Step 1:
Connect the pcProx® CDC device to the USB port. The reader will display a yellow flashing
LED.




Step 2:
Navigate to the location of the saved executable file and run RFIDeas-AK0-Driver.exe

Step 3:
The device driver status on the RF IDeas AK0 Driver Installer should display:

Checking driver status… Not installed.

Click the Install button.

















Step 4:
Once installed, the reader will beep and display a solid red LED. The device driver status on the
RF IDeas AK0 Driver Installer will now display:

Checking driver status… Installed.

Step 5:
Open the Device Manager (Go to Control Panel, Hardware, and Device Manager) and locate
the reader under COM PORTS. (Right Click port, properties, Manufacturer RF IDeas)
