Chapter I

Introduction

Learning is a process of gaining new understanding, preferences, and

competencies. It helps students to enhance their possessed skills. This study

is frequently a problem to the new normal learning system here in the

Philippines. This issue is address because of the pandemic and the

Department of Education has already implemented the new learning system.

This is a study is all about the crisis that altered the teaching calendars

in the educational system. It was illustrated that alternatives must be devised

so that there will be a way for the students to cope with the lessons even if the

learning calendars are already revised. The new standard learning system

particularly needs a teaching skill that curates a best online learning

resources that helps the students learn and gains understandings.

According to Angara (2020), this is a massive shift for the education

system which involves student’s affection. Access to school via internet itself

is inaccessible sometimes due to deficiency of the network’s infrastructures.

Angara alleged that all of these matters should be properly and effectively

implemented in the new educational system as we have been dealing and

living with the threat of COVID-19 pandemic.

This actively illustrate that the new learning system due to amid the

pandemic constantly highlighted that online learning cannot produce desired

results in our country as we are still underdeveloped, and majority of the

students are unable to access internet due to technical and monetary issues.

In particular, the lack of face-to-face interaction with the teachers, can be

response to absence of certain concentrations of traditional classroom

socialization were it is the most nominal.

Statement of the Problem

The process of this study is to look for the different tactics on how do

the students and teachers cope within the new standard learning methods.

Hence, the scholars would like to research on the efficiencies and deficiencies

of the new educational structure.

This research paper aims to answer the following questions:

1. Is the new innovated learning structure being efficient for the

students?

2. Is there a present deficiency on this educational assembly?

3. Is there a relationship between the new educational systems to the

student’s new innovative learning structure?

Objectives

The objectives of this proposed study is to:

 To know the benefits and difficulties of new learning system to the

students

 To know the deficits of new learning system

 To know the affection of this system to the students

Chapter II

REVIEWS ON RELATED LITERATURE

This chapter comprises the literature and studies on the advantages

and disadvantages of the New Normal Learning System towards Learners

and Teachers. This study and the literature were analyzed to establish what

dimensions of the present study had been addressed in previous studies. This

chapter also outlines the ideas which the researcher is anchoring to the

analysis.

According to Cahapay ( 2020), Educational programs are preparing for

the post-COVID-19 period, marked as the new normal. Extensive study on

online adoption has conducted instructionally on the implementation modality

in the new standard post-COVID-19 period. As we enter the new normal in the

post-COVID-19 era, education needs to be reconsidered in the light of

emerging opportunities and challenges.

In addition, regarding to the implementation of a new normal

curriculum, in Mindanao State University, General Santos City, Philippines,

they addresses alternatives for the objectives content, methodology and

assessment of educators in the profession. As well as the opportunity to

reconsider the priorities of education which also includes the purposes of

making the curriculum relevant, appropriate and adaptive to the regulation of

preparedness in times of trouble, and crisis. They are also aware of the key

issues, decisions and ideas that need to be considered in a cogent manner as

we enter the new normal system.

In spite of COVID-19 challenges, educational establishments are

encouraged to continue educating students. In the Philippines, thousands of

confirmed cases of COVID-19 have caused a huge impact in higher education

institutions. The country immediately opted for online learning, and some

issues arise as the majority of teachers are not prepared to deal with online

education. The reality is that many higher education institutions, both private

and state colleges and universities in the Philippines are not prepared to

adopt this online framework. Toquero (2020)

According to Flannery (2020), In the Arizona State University, most

educators are incorporating the pandemic into their lesson plans. They are

using students natural curiosity about what's going on around them in the

world to deepen their comprehension of critical, timely topics in science,

history, journalism, and more. In addition, she said that teachers contemplate

their discussions in veined lessons for students can be able to see on the

presentations of statistics in news sources and introduced tools. They also

study on the use of the pandemic to explain ethical questions. As well as to

draw on past events and more as they claim that knowledge is the strongest

tool against disinformation.

According to Diego et al., (2020), in today's situation, students were

heavily reliant on the physical presence of their own learning progression.

The contemporary school closures prior to the COVID-19 crisis, in Los

Angeles, California. Their Unified School District includes the creation of

alternative learning evaluation functions for learners and the need for

formative evaluation at the moment. Considering that today's learning has to

take place beyond the physical classroom, and parents have turned educators
who need to implement the students integration to the new normal

curriculum.

However, all modalities of learning assessment had been strongly

dependent on students’ physical manifestation. In the alignment of

assessments of students, teachers, and parents, they worked with the local

TV channel to produce “Homework Hotline,” an educational TV program that

was paired with teachers connecting to students using a toll-free number .

According to Graham (2013), There is no question that the idea of

blended learning is now appearing at an increased pace. American Society for

Training and Development identified blended learning as a top trend within the

knowledge delivery industry. The North American Council also projected

blended learning to likely emerge as the predominant model of the future. As

has always been the case, learning enhances the use of information and

communication technologies which have crucial distinctions between face-to-

face and distance learning which are absolutely difficult for some researchers

to convey the concern that blended learning can go beyond mere learning.

As well as blended learning research increases, theoretical structures

should also introduced frameworks to resolve concerns specific to a blended

learning environment. He suggested a number of existing conceptual

frameworks that could be used, including how people learn structures that

concentrate on learning-centered, knowledge-centered, assessment-

centered, and community-centered learning environments.

Theoretical Framework

This study is anchored to the theory of International Journal of

Educational Technology in Higher Education that discussed a variety of

findings, consequences and potential future directions for integrated learning

in higher education. In addition, this theory also examines the student's

understanding of the current standard course curriculum on how they are

barely assess and cope with today's excellence. Communication systems are

also growing that become even more used on the world's university and

school life since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. As well as the growth

of virtual courses, there is growing concern about the quality of education it

offers and the difficulties faced by the teachers and the learners. The purpose

of this article is to discuss the leads and downsides of virtual learning

perceived by the faculty and the learner.
