Definition
Procedure text is a text that informing us how to make or to do something.
Social Function/Purpose
It is used to describe how something is accomplished through a sequence of action or steps.
Generic Structure:
1. Goal/aim
This part of the text describes the purpose of doing or operating something. (Tujuan/goal, yang biasanya tersebut
sebagai judul teks;)
2. Materials/Equipments
This part describes the materials or equipments needed in the process of doing or operating something. It is
important to note that some of procedure texts do not provide materials section. (Alat dan bahan yang dibutuhkan
untuk membuat atau mengoperasikan sesuatu. Tidak semua Procedure Text menyediakan bagian ini)
3. Steps/Methods
This part describes the set of instructions in order to achieve the goal. (Langkah-langkah atau serangkaian tindakan
(method)yang disusun secara urut dan runtut untuk mencapai tujuan (dengan atau tanpa nomor).
Language Features
-Using Simple Present Tense
-Using command sentences
-Using sequence adverbs to tell the order of the procedure (First, second, next, Then, After that Finally, etc)
-Using adverbs to tell how an action should be done.
Verbs that are often used to give command are :

How to Create Facebook Account
First, you need to have an email account. Create a free email account from yahoo or gmail. Second, open
web browser e.g. mozilla firefox. Third, type facebook address: www.facebook.com then enter. Fourth, fill the
registration form: first name, last name, email address, password for your facebook account (it’s better to be
different with your email password), gender, and birth date. Fifth, click sign up. Sixth, log into your email account
to verify your registration. Seventh, log into facebook.com again. Eight, enter your email address snd your
facebook account. Ninth, click log in. Finally, your facebook account has been set up. You can share, connect with
your friend and chat up via facebook.
