TOPIC: THE IMPORTANCE OF EATING WELL

1.THE RESEARCH PROBLEM

Nowadays, according (Prevention, s.f.) “A good nutrition is essential to keeping current

and future generations healthy throughout life. A healthy diet helps children grow and
develop properly and reduces the risk of chronic diseases”. A good nutrition not only
helps children but also helps adults to avoid diseases such as diabetes or cancer. There
are times when we eat foods that do not have enough nutrients and contain more calories.
Sometimes we choose to eat whatever in order to get a feeling of fullness in the stomach,
without realizing that it is junk food and well this food sometimes gives up staisfaction.

Feed ourselves well, according to (Activity, s.f.) “Eating balanced diet and being
physically active are two of the most important things you can do to get and stay healthy
at any age”. Well, as we know, exercise is part of healthy eating, since it is also important
because if we want to have a balanced diet, exercising always has to go hand in hand, it
also includes eating the right amount of calories and nutrients for a healthy weight , the
problem is that sometimes people want to achieve everything easily without much effort.
I mean that we want to be healthy but without taking care of our diet that is impossible.

On the other hand, regarding food, sometimes we use it as a distraction according to

research (Blog, s.f.) “The most common reason so many of us struggle to eat healthy is
very much a psychological one, we want to avoid having to process emotions we are
uncomfortable with and use food as the effective distraction and drug it so easily can be”.
Some people consume sweet things like sugar when they are sad. We use some foods to
calm down our panic a bit, it is a response from our body and it can cause binge eating
and that is where the problems with the food relationship begin. This brings diseases like
anorexia This happens when people have an obsession with maintaing their weight and
try to skip meals.

Finally, poor nutrition can bring us a decrease in nutrients according to (Symptoms of Not
Eating, s.f.) “As poor intake continues and the body does not receive enough nutrition,
multiple functions are affected. The body continues to become deficient in calories as
well as carbohydrates, protein or fats. It may not be receiving critical minerals and
nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, and protein”. This brings serious
consequences for our body, the lack of nutrients present symptoms such as hair loss,
weight loss, if the immune system is low we are more likely to get sick, the lack of
vitamins causes the body to relapse and we can begin to feel symptoms of malnutrition.

5.CONCLUSIONS

Write your conclusions (at least 4 in a paragraph each one)

Our body needs to eat properly to live, the nutrients we get from food allow our

body to function properly and we can perform our daily activities, the role of food

goes far beyond, the latest research on nutrition in recent years have allowed us to

determine the importance of proper nutrition in maintain mainly physical and

mental health, prevent disease, improve our quality of life, the fact that we
consume food does not tell us that we are acquiring all the nutrients needed by our

body, these are important for our body to function properly for all body systems.

An adequate diet is what the body needs, both in energy and nutrients to cover its

needs and achieve proper functioning. There is no adequate diet if a specific diet

is not given for each person depending on their characteristics and lifestyle, a well

prepared diet for a child or adolescent will not be the same as for an adult or for a

pregnant woman, it is more will not do the same in women and men, nor will it

do the same for a person who does not perform physical activity.

Sometimes we look for excuses to introduce foods that are not healthy options,

there are trans fats and with a very high sugar content, they are also harmful to

our health, when it is said that a diet should be mixed, it refers to foods that are

healthy, such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fish, it does not

mean that we cannot eat foods that are not healthy but if we says that we must

learn to choose foods that are preferably healthy, sometimes we worry more about

our weight and beauty but what is really important is to provide our body with the

nutrients we need for its proper functioning.

For the food we consume to give us energy, we must always consider the weight

and body mass of the person, this is important to know how many nutrients are

needed and to avoid eating for the sake of eating. It is always more advisable to

go to a specialist so that we know what the most appropriate diet would be, and a

professional will always help us with that.

To improve our relationship with food we can try to follow some

recommendations:

• Eat in a balanced way.

• Do not wait to feel hungry.

• Avoid fried food.

• Eat slowly.

• Drink water.

• Buy healthy foods.

• Mixing foods gives us energy.
