Chapter 1

Introduction to the Study

Part One – Background, Theoretical, and Conceptual Framework of the Study

- presents the introduction and discusses the rationale for choosing the problem as well
as the theoretical and conceptual framework of the study.

- Introduction discusses:

- reason/s the research problem was selected

- what the problem situation is
- discrepancy between “what is” and “what should be”
- possible reasons for the discrepancy
- what is known about the problem
- data gap and questions that remain unanswered – the gap becomes a “need”
- something lacking, the “what should be” is expressed in terms of one’s
vision, goals, and objectives

- rationale discusses for choosing the problem / define a research problem

- review of relevant literature

- seek educated opinions about the problem

- theoretical framework / conceptual framework of the study

- theories related to the variables under investigation for a theory testing

research
- obtain possible explanations for the problem from existing theories
- describe variables according to functional relations the conceptual
interrelatedness of the variables in the study
- construct a research paradigm

Part Two – Statement of the Problem

- describes the purpose for conducting the study and the specific objectives therein.

Part Three – Significance of the Study

- discusses the benefits that may be derived from the results of the study and the
persons who would benefit from them

Part Four – Definition of Terms

- defines the important terms used in the study, it includes conceptual definitions and
operational definitions for the purpose of determining the measure or type of data to
be taken

Part Five – Delimitation of the Study

- specifies the scope and coverage, the scope and coverage of the study, the scope and
coverage will be for:

- research methods
- problem
- time and place
- the subjects and its category
- sampling methods
- instruments used in the study
- statistical tools

Chapter 2

Review of Related Literature

Part One - Conceptual Literature

- presents facts and principles to which the present study is related.

Part Two - Related Studies

- features the findings of previous researches relevant to the topic.

Part Three - Summary

- discusses the highlights of this chapter.

Chapter 3

Research Design and Methodology

Part One - Purpose of the Study and Research Design

- describes the research design (method) to be used, restates the purpose of the study
- describes the plan to be employed in the conduct of the study; and
- restates the hypotheses to be tested.

Part Two - Method

- presents the subjects/participants of the study, the sampling techniques
- describes the data-gathering instruments, and delineates the procedures observed in
the study.

Part Three - Statistical Data Analysis Procedure

- reports on the procedures for scoring and the statistical analyses to be used to
describe the subjects and to test the hypothesis. It includes descriptive data analysis
and inferential data analysis.
