Explain the role that values play in a total quality setting.

Values are core beliefs that guide our behavior. Employees will be most productive working on
efforts they believe in and value. For example, if the employees believe and understand in zero
waste then they would work towards achieving the same.

Explain how education-related factors can inhibit competitiveness.

The quality of a country's education system is a major determinant of the quality of its labor
pool. The higher the quality of the labor pool, the higher the quality of entry-level employees.
The higher the quality of entry-level employees, the faster they can become productive
employees and contribute to the competitiveness of their employers. Consequently, a high-
quality education system is an important component of the competitiveness equation.

For example a country like U.S. and US MNCs are forced to spend money helping employees
learn the basic skills of reading and writing while their competitors are able to devote their
training dollars to developing advanced work-related skills. That makes them more productive
and efficient.

Discuss the benefit of partnering and how it is done with suppliers and with customers

A partnership can give suppliers greater visibility into how you operate, enabling you and
your suppliers to collaborate by reducing costs, improving service and quality, and even
innovating. And as more work gets outsourced, a company's dependency on suppliers will
increase. For example, the partnership with suppliers would reduce stock o inventories and
follow JIT effectively. If this happens then the supplier would station employees to look into
stock requirements and automatic purchases would be made and stock replenishment would be
done by the suppliers. This would reduce costs and investment in inventory.
Collaboration and strategic partnerships are fundamental to improving business outcomes.
Strategic partnerships benefit everyone: businesses, employees and customers. Businesses can
broaden their relevance and increase their addressable market by aligning with customers and the
customers benefit from the strengths and offerings each organization brings to the table. What
this mean is that the firm is more or less certain about fixed demands and production can be
adjusted accordingly. Plus, deepening ties between business and clients would foster
collaborations and longevity of business growth and profitability.

Explain what organization must do to respond effectively to change?

Change management entails thoughtful planning and sensitive implementation, and above all,
consultation with, and involvement of, the people affected by the changes. If you force change
on people normally problems arise. Change must be realistic, achievable and measurable. These
aspects are especially relevant to managing personal change. Before starting organizational
change, ask yourself: What do we want to achieve with this change, why, and how will we know
that the change has been achieved? Who is affected by this change, and how will they react to it?
How much of this change can we achieve ourselves, and what parts of the change do we need
help with? These aspects also relate strongly to the management of personal as well as
organizational change.

change needs to be understood and managed in a way that people can cope effectively with it.
Change can be unsettling, so the manager logically needs to be a settling influence.

For example the managers must Check that people affected by the change agree with, or at least
understand, the need for change, and have a chance to decide how the change will be managed,
and to be involved in the planning and implementation of the change. Use face-to-face
communications to handle sensitive aspects of organizational change management. Encourage
the middle and lower managers to communicate face-to-face with their people to make sure
they are helping you manage an organizational change. It must be noted that use of Email and
written notices are extremely weak at conveying and developing understanding and the rationale
for changes.

Explain how managers can ensure that employees have effective interpersonal skills.
When new managers are appointed, employers often evaluate their technical skills or industry-
related experience before hiring them. However, managers need other valuable skills to
effectively lead teams to do their jobs, as well. Interpersonal skills are on top of this list, as a
good leader needs to be able to communicate with, motivate and discipline employees.
Regardless of where the manager is from communication is an important part of life, as well as a
necessary component of any personal or business relationship. Having effective communication
skills can be the difference between success and failure.
Managers must make sure that employees develop empathy for others and also see that the same
is a crucial part of relationship building in the workplace because it helps one take into account
the thoughts, feelings, and needs of others. There are different ways that learning and
development professionals can encourage employees to develop and grow the skills and
managers can also arrange training and development courses to increase learning and
communicating. Effective communication goes a long way in increasing co-operation among
workers.
Also manager must make the employees understand it clearly that active listening and strong
communication skills, also is useful in terms of negotiation tactics.it also helps in career
progression as well.
The development of a successful work place also depends upon how the employers establish
work environments that encourage respect and avoids ego clash. In some cases,  the managers
themselves can be offenders and thus they must show exemplary behavior to their co-workers.

Describe how managers can control internal politics in an organization

Managers can control internal politics in an organization through Strategic planning, leadership,
reward/recognition, performance appraisal, customer focus, conflict management, developing
culture etc.
Internal politics can drain an organization of its intellectual and physical energy and in the
process take away its ability to compete. Thus, managers must make sure employees are aware
of the strategic planning in place and how they can achieve the same by following procedures.
For example, the management can put in place a mechanism known as conflict management to
deal with interpersonal conflicts. Conflict management is the process of limiting the negative
aspects of conflict while increasing the positive aspects of conflict. The aim of conflict
management is to enhance learning and group outcomes, including effectiveness or performance
in an organizational setting. Managers can use any of the following or a combination of more
than one to reduce friction and increase compatibility:
1. Undertake an elaborate Conflict Analysis.
2. Brainstorming various types feasible Solutions.
3. Advocating Collaboration among different teams.
4. Increasing direct and Verbal Communication.
5. Convening group and team Meetings.
6. Advocating group Decision Making.
