DIGITAL ASSIGNMENT – 1

TOPIC
10 APPLICATIONS OF ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE
INTRODUCTION
Advances in technology are allowing AI to have a significant impact on various industries,
making our lives more efficient and convenient through the integration of AI in various
software and devices. This is leading to a greater digitization of the world. Daily lives of
people are becoming more and more efficient and convenient as a result of the various
applications of Artificial Intelligence.

10 APPLICATIONS OF AI
1) ROBOTICS
Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the
design and development of automated machines, also
known as robots, that can carry out tasks without human
intervention. With the integration of AI, robots have
become more sophisticated and efficient in completing
tasks. They are equipped with advanced features such as
sensors, high-definition cameras, and voice recognition
technology. These robots are designed to learn from past
experiences and adapt to different environments, which
is making them increasingly useful in industries for
improving productivity and reducing costs, for example,
in the packaging process.

2) DEFENCE
The defence sector is a critical area where AI can make
significant contributions. Cybersecurity for defence
systems is important as they can be vulnerable to
hacking attempts to steal sensitive government or
defence information, which can have negative
consequences for a country. AI tools aid in analysing
large amounts of data and identifying potential security
threats. The AI algorithms are designed to learn from
data and distinguish between authorized and
unauthorized access, as well as monitoring the security
of military databases. Any unauthorized changes to the
databases are quickly detected and action can be taken.

3) TRANSPORT
AI tools, the software or application can also predict the best prices for specific routes. This
helps passengers find cheaper options. Further, AI-based applications notify passengers about
the rise and drop in prices and about the available offers while booking tickets. Another real-
life application of AI in the field of transport is in online ride-sharing services such as Uber,
Lyft, and Ola. These applications use AI, machine learning (ML), and data science to deliver
customized services. AI helps in showing optimized paths and prices for the rides.
4) HEALTHCARE
The healthcare industry generates an enormous amount of data, with an estimated 44 trillion
gigabytes per day. As a result, there is a need for advanced AI-based processors that can
extract, manipulate, analyse, and gain insights from this data. AI-based algorithms are
capable of identifying patterns more effectively than humans, which can aid in the analysis of
patient data and help with diagnosis. Additionally, AI-based devices can collect real-time
data such as blood pressure, heart rate, and body temperature, and send it to doctors for
remote analysis, which can save time for both doctors and patients. For example, AI in
healthcare can assist pathologists in analysing genes and tissues, which can improve the
accuracy of disease diagnosis.

5) MARKETING
AI is being adopted by various industries such as e-commerce, e-learning, advertising, media,
and entertainment to improve profitability. For example, when a customer searches for a
product on Amazon, the website uses AI algorithms to show the customer the best sellers,
similar products, variations of the product, and personalized recommendations. This is
achieved by using AI-based algorithms that analyse customer interests and behaviours, which
helps with targeted advertising, providing a more personalized experience for customers, and
ultimately increasing business revenue.
6) AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
The development of self-driving cars has had a major
impact on the automotive industry. Companies such
as Tesla, Nissan, Audi, and Volvo are working on
developing these types of vehicles. Self-driving cars
use a variety of technologies such as sensors,
cameras, and voice detectors, to collect data and
analyse the surroundings. The software in the car then
makes decisions to ensure a safe drive. AI-enabled
systems also help in identifying the most efficient
route to the destination by analysing maps.

7) BUSINESS
Businesses are utilizing AI to enhance customer interactions and automate tasks that were
previously done manually. They are also using machine learning (ML) algorithms to
determine the most effective ways to serve their clients. For example, chatbots are integrated
into businesses to provide quick services to customers, which is one of the many applications
of AI in the commercial sector. AI has the ability to boost sales, perform predictive analysis,
improve customer relationships by enhancing the overall experience, and streamline work
processes for greater efficiency and productivity.

8) GAMING
AI is used in various ways in the gaming industry, such as creating games and developing
characters. In gaming, AI refers to interactive and adaptable gaming experiences. Non-player
characters (NPCs) are commonly used to create this type of AI-powered gaming experience.
NPCs can act intelligently or creatively as if they were controlled by a human player. The AI
engine controls how NPCs behave within the game environment.
9) BANKING
AI is increasingly used in financial activities such as automation, chatbots, adaptive
intelligence, algorithm trading, and machine learning (ML). Many banks already use AI-
based systems or software to provide customer service and detect abnormalities and fraud. AI
is particularly valuable for the banking industry in the area of fraud detection. While pattern
recognition can be challenging for humans, robots excel at it. By using AI and ML
algorithms, security experts can prevent fraud by monitoring card usage and endpoint access.

10) CHATBOTS
AI chatbots are able to understand natural language and respond to users through live chat,
which is a feature offered by many businesses for customer support. These chatbots are
powered by machine learning (ML) and can be integrated into various websites and apps.
They are capable of addressing customer concerns, responding to basic inquiries, improving
customer service, and providing 24/7 assistance. As AI technology continues to improve, AI
chatbots can help to increase customer satisfaction.

CONCLUSION
AI has a variety of applications in a wide range of industries and domains, all of which have
the ability to reduce human effort by automating and running everything through machine
algorithms. Global technical equivalence and AI have the potential to become the future in
the areas of health, environment, public safety, and security.
