Digital Logic Mid-Exam

Digital logic design is the design of digital circuits that can have two states (HIGH or LOW) to represent binary digits. An example is a basic logic gate. Digital systems have advantages over analog systems like better accuracy and noise immunity, but their chief limitation is that they can only represent values as discrete levels not continuously like analog. In a 3-input OR gate, up to 7 different input combinations can produce a HIGH output. Registers store data and codes converters change data between formats. Integrated circuits have advantages of lower cost, smaller size and higher reliability but cannot handle large voltages and currents due to their small component sizes. Sign-magnitude representation uses the sign bit to indicate positive or negative numbers.
