The family wants to consume a daily fruit breakfast that provides at least 20 mg but less than 60 mg of vitamin C per person at minimum cost. Bananas provide 8.8 mg of vitamin C per 6 servings, while apples provide 5.2 mg per serving. The minimum number of daily fruit servings per person must be determined. A transport company has Type A trucks with separate refrigerated and non-refrigerated capacities, and Type B trucks with equal capacities in both. The grocer needs to transport a certain amount of each good and wants to minimize total costs based on truck type costs per kilometer. The optimal number of each truck type must be found. A store wants to liquidate shirts and pants

Linear Programming(MIDTERM)

1: A health-conscious family wants to have a very well controlled vitamin C-rich

mixed fruit-breakfast which is a good source of dietary fibre as well; in the form
of 5 fruit servings per day. They choose apples and bananas as their target
fruits, which can be purchased from an online vendor in bulk at a reasonable
price.
Bananas cost 30 pesos per dozen (6 servings) and apples cost 80 pesos per kg (8
servings). Given: 1 banana contains 8.8 mg of Vitamin C and 100 g of apples i.e.
1 serving contains 5.2 mg of Vitamin C.

Every person of the family would like to have at least 20 mg of Vitamin C daily
but would like to keep the intake under 60 mg. How much fruit servings would
the family have to consume on a daily basis per person to minimize their cost?

2) A transport company has two types of trucks, Type A and Type B. Type A has a
refrigerated capacity of   and a non-refrigerated capacity of   while
Type B has the same overall volume with equal sections for refrigerated and non-
refrigerated stock. A grocer needs to hire trucks for the transport of   of
refrigerated stock and   of non-refrigerated stock. The cost per
kilometer of a Type A is $30, and $40 for Type B. How many trucks of each type
should the grocer rent to achieve the minimum total cost?

3. A store wants to liquidate 200 of its shirts and 100 pairs of pants from last
season. They have decided to put together two offers, A and B. Offer A is a
package of one shirt and a pair of pants which will sell for $30. Offer B is a
package of three shirts and a pair of pants, which will sell for $50. The store does
not want to sell less than 20 packages of Offer A and less than 10 of Offer B. How
many packages of each do they have to sell to maximize the money generated
from the promotion?
