PERSONAL STATEMENT

Q1) The Reason for Application in This Course?

As a student with a strong interest in Engineering, I am fascinated by how engineering can be
used to solve real-world problems. I am keen to expand my knowledge by pursuing a degree
in civil engineering because my A-Level courses provided me with a solid foundation in
mathematics and physics.

As an A-Level student, I enjoy studying Physics and Mathematics. My interest in Physics,

mathematics, and my love of solving problems led me to investigate the fields associated
with these subjects, and I discovered that civil engineering is the ideal fit for me. I am eager
to learn more about the advancements in the field and to explore how civil engineering can be
used to make structures and processes more efficiently and in a proper pragmatic way. I am
particularly interested in this area because in my country Pakistan and there is a continuous
growth and buildup in the country infrastructure as well as the real estate category and there
is a huge need for professionally educated civil graduates.

Civil engineering is a broad field that encompasses many different specializations, including
structural engineering, transportation engineering, environmental engineering, and more.
Civil engineers play a critical role in designing and building infrastructure that supports
communities and the economy. From designing bridges and highways to developing
sustainable water management systems, civil engineers contribute to projects that have a
direct impact on people's lives. In Pakistan, Civil engineering is constantly evolving as new
technologies and materials become available. As a result, there is ample opportunity for civil
engineers to engage in innovative work and contribute to the development of new solutions to
infrastructure challenges.

I have been a hardworking and dedicated student, consistently achieving good grades. This
has been reflected in my previous assessments, which are related to the course I am applying
for. I am interested in getting higher education in the field of civil engineering from the
prestigious University of Hertfordshire in England. I enjoyed studying the chapters on
Differentiation and Integration in A-levels mathematics which will be needed in the
mathematics courses of this degree and the same goes for physics as these both will be a
foundation for my bachelor’s degree.

Apart from my academic achievements. I am also into extracurricular activities and

competitions. I participated in a Mathematics Olympiad which was held at the school, where
I performed exceptionally well in solving the questions. My passion for technical fields has
become even more firmly established as a result of these experiences. It also gave me a sense
of the difficulties and possibilities that lie ahead. I also like playing cricket and table tennis.
Motivating and encouraging my teammates has helped me build leadership abilities and a
sense of collaboration. I am confident that these abilities will help me in my future career.

Q2) Reason for Application in The United Kingdom?

The UK is viewed as the ideal location for international students to study, gain an amazing
educational experience, and develop their personal and professional abilities. UK institutions
are among the best in the world, and both domestic and international students compete
fiercely for admission. The world respects degrees earned from UK higher education
institutions, and there is a wide range of courses you can choose from. The innovative and
demanding environments that British higher education institutions offer assist drive students
to be their best. Since UK courses are shorter and more intensive than those in many other
nations, students can graduate more quickly without sacrificing academic quality.

I chose UK for further studies because the UK has worlds’ largest leading modern
universities with all the facilities which are essential to provide students for their better
learning. Especially, UK universities provide quality assurance. The UK is a multicultural
country, home to the best universities in the world known for academic excellence, the

Q4) How Will It Help Achieve Career Goals?

Civil engineers are in high demand in the construction industry in Pakistan and there are
many job opportunities available in this field. I can work for construction companies,
government agencies, or engineering consulting firms that specialize in construction. The
government sector in Pakistan offers several opportunities for civil engineers, including
positions in infrastructure development, urban planning, and transportation. I can work for
government agencies such as the National Highway Authority or the Water and Power
Development Authority. The private sector in Pakistan also offers many job opportunities for
civil engineers. You could work for engineering consulting firms, design firms, or real estate
developers. Another option I will have in Pakistan is to start my own business. I can also start
a construction company, a design firm, or an engineering consulting firm. The starting salary
for a civil engineer in Pakistan is PKR 70,000 per month, depending on the industry and the
company. With experience, the salary can increase significantly.

I'm interested in acquiring more advanced information in each of the many topics that civil
engineering spans. The degree programmes offer several chances for students to develop their
professional skills, and the good staff-to-student ratios encourage participation in class and
presentation skills development.
I think this university will prove to be the best place for me in terms of education as I will be
able to study under highly qualified faculty and work on research in advanced areas of civil
engineering along with getting exposed to different cultures as students from many countries
come to study in UK. I hope after studying here I will be able to contribute to my field and
solve the problems related to the field of Civil engineering. I thank you for giving your
precious time to my application.
