REACTION PAPER
Should the Use of Drugs be Legalized?

The use of drugs is an international issue. People who are under the influence of
drugs would commit crimes that affect the people around them. It has a negative effect
on the body of the user, especially on their mental health. Sometimes people will
hallucinate and commit crimes like rape and murder.

There are pros and cons of legalizing drugs. The legalization of it is a very
contentious issue and can raise strong opinions on both sides of the drug legislation
debate. It cannot be disputed that many drugs can have a big impact on both individual
users and society at large. Addiction can cause significant harm to the user's physical
and mental health and can result in problematic behavior that has an impact on those
around the user. Both parties largely concur on this. The debate over whether to
criminalize drug use or wage what is commonly referred to as the "War on Drugs tends
to dominate discussions on whether legalizing drugs would be a better solution.

Drug addiction is one of the biggest problems that people all over the world are
currently facing. Marijuana, heroin, cocaine, and many more types of substances all
have addictive properties. It is very important to avoid becoming addicted to any drugs
since, once you are, it will be quite difficult to stop using them. Today, there are several
drug rehab clinics that assist drug addicts in getting healthier and beginning new lives.

The inability to stop using drugs despite desire is known as drug addiction. Even
if you are aware of the risks associated with the medicine, the need is simply too great
to ignore. Addiction may come first, even above food and sleep needs. It's possible that
your urge to acquire and use the drug will occupy every moment of your life. Everything
you used to do to relish has been replaced with addiction.

A drug user will do almost everything to keep using the drug, including lying,
stealing, and injuring other people. This might lead to disagreements with your family
and friends, and it might even result in your arrest and imprisonment. If you abuse
prescription drugs, you may also become addicted to illegal drugs.

Drug dependence is a chronic condition. This implies that even if you temporarily
stop using it, it will still be with you for a very long time. Unlike a cold, it lasts. Therapy is
available to those who need it, but permanent abstinence can be quite challenging. It
also affects the brain permanently. It encourages someone to continue using drugs
despite the harm they cause. Recurrent drug use can affect the brain and result in
addiction.
Illegal drugs are a significant issue in the Philippines today due to their
unregulated strength and high quality. It appears frequently in the majority of news
outlets, not just once. Just to be clear, drug use isn't always bad. There is only one
illegal chemical that some people want to use without knowing the consequences. As a
result of their negative effects on human health, substances with legal limits are
considered to be illegal drugs. However, you should be aware that using any drug
excessively might result in an overdose, which is dangerous.

Drug users may get addicted to drugs without even realizing it, and continued
usage will result in overdoses. It can also make you hallucinate, see things that aren't
there, and act differently than you normally would. In this case, drug education or
awareness would be helpful. They could receive the appropriate education about drugs
and other relevant subjects.

Personally, I disagreed with legalizing the use of drugs. Yes, we can use drugs
for medications, but the illegal drugs must continue to be illegal. Many crimes are
happening in Mindanao, like in Bukidnon, where the case of a wife who was stabbed
many times by her husband because he was under the influence of illegal drugs. The
rape and killing that happened in Tagum City are still under investigation, and I believe
that those suspects are drug users. Recently, in Calinan, Davao City, an architect was
raped and killed by four drug addicts. See? These cases are just examples of the
countless crimes happening around us because of drug addicts.

We will be aware of when to take these medications and any possible health
risks they may pose. I have a neighbor who always buys drugs like Neozep, Biogesic,
Paracetamol, Enervon, etc. I believe that he is also addicted to these drugs because the
way he acts is like other people who use illegal drugs. I hope this kind of issue will also
be solved to provide us with a safe environment in which to live. By obtaining drug
education, people will learn how to recognize risky situations, make wise decisions, and
develop plans for preparing for challenging conditions.

Additionally, it may result in addiction, overdose, or even death. The effects of

drug use on society and the economy are also important. It might result in more crime,
less productivity, and more expensive medical care. It is essential to comprehend why
people use drugs and to offer suitable treatment and support to those who are battling
with their addiction. Programs for prevention, rehabilitation, and education are crucial in
combating the problem of drug usage.

In conclusion, society must come together to lessen drug addiction and help
those trying to kick their habit. Drug usage is a complicated problem that calls for a
varied strategy to solve. We may endeavor to lessen the impacts of drug abuse on both
individuals and society at large through education, prevention, and assistance.
