Course Outcomes: Through this course students should be able to

CO1 :: identify and acquire traits and skills required in the corporate world

CO2 :: practice formulation of opinions in a team environment during group interactions

CO3 :: develop effective presentation skills to contribute to organizational goals

CO4 :: apply personal branding principles for professional self-representations

CO5 :: demonstrate answering techniques to excel during an interview

Unit I
Attitude Building : Understanding the importance of attitude for personal and professional success,
empathy, cultural awareness and adaptability, difference between attitude and behaviour,
understanding personality traits, techniques to build professional attitude, inculcate growth mindset
using SWOT analysis
Unit II
Professional communication & interpersonal skills : Elements of effective communication,7C’s of
communication, verbal, non-verbal and paraverbal communication, challenges in effective
communication and ways to overcome them. Presentation using a blend of digital and oral
presentation to enhance communication, overcoming stage fear and the strategies for it. Introduction
to virtual communication techniques. Conversation etiquette, interpersonal effectiveness,
collaborative communication, art of small talk
Unit III
Introduction to Curriculum Vitae : Importance of building a curriculum vitae, elements of
curriculum vitae, model curriculum vitae, common errors, designing a personalized curriculum vitae,
resume vs CV, digital profiling-LinkedIn, introduction to video CV’s, do’s and don’t of video CV
Unit IV
Effective Group Discussion : Need for and importance of group discussion, skills required for
effective group discussion, do's and don'ts of group discussion, types of group discussion topics-
domain specific, abstract, current affairs and social issues. Use of group discussion techniques such as
KWA, VAP, SPELT, POPBEANS and case studies for brainstorming ideas in a group discussion,
utilization & understanding of different roles during the group discussion, mock group discussion
Unit V
Mastering the art of Interview : Pre-interview preparation with pre-placement talk etiquette,
grooming, interview etiquette, elevator pitch, justification of curriculum vitae, behavioural and
situational questions using STAR, WAR AND CARE techniques. Creating SMART goals. Mock
interviews.
Unit VI
Email Etiquette : Importance of email etiquette, professional email types- business email, job
application email, thanking email, invitation email, marketing/newsletter email, follow-up email,
apology email, confirmation email, etc. do's and don’ts in email writing, creating a digital signature
