1 How to pronounce final -s

‘S’ at the end of verbs in the third person, plural nouns and possessive words is pronounced in different
ways.

Final -s sound: /s/ /z/ /iz/

5. Speed game

Students should work in pairs or small teams. Each team should use a stopwatch on a mobile phone to time
themselves. When everyone has finished, check that the students have the correct answers. Then check their
times. The student’s with the most correct answers in the fastest time win the race. If a team is faster but they
have fewer correct answers, then the slower team with more correct answers wins. For example, a team with 20
correct answers with a time of 4 mins 30s beats a team with 18 correct answers with a time of 4 mins.
