Activating Prior Knowledge Looking back at the last activity you had online, try to recall Important terms and postulates about triangle congruence and using a mind map, try to name, compare, and differentiate the four postulates. You may do this on any paper and be sure to keep it as reference in the succeeding activity. This will be your guide in solving corresponding parts and proving congruent triangles Activity 1: Formative Assessment ‘On your notebook, answer the following problems (1-3) and let us see how far you understood the concepts about triangle congruence. Essential Question ‘As we go on to our lesson, please remember this: eo tiatetreat help you salve reside probleme?" B, Firm Up 1. Solving corresponding parts At this point, T would like you to try solving the unknown parts of ‘two congruent triangles as part of our initial exercise. These are to be found on pages 287-291 for those with textbook. For those who were Unable to bring their textbooks home, open the attached PDF file module and go to pages 8-12. Remember that before solving you are to read and comprehend the lecture notes in the textbook / PDF file module. They are phrased in KID friendly terms so if you will read it carefully then it will be easy to follow the steps. 2. Check for understanding Let us see how lengthy the reinforcement that we need for this particular topic is going to be. Open the attached worksheet #1 entitled "Solving corresponding parts of congruent triangles", then answer It as accurately as possible based on what you were able to understand from the first two exercises. Remember that this worksheet will be checked to help us determine how we can adjust learning to this particular topic. ‘This worksheet, when done with focus, can be completed in 20-30 minutes so it is expected to be submitted to me via messenger or yahoo mail on April 22, 2020 Since the lesson was discussed in details, this will fall part of your ‘Summative Assessment @Bagut OF Baguio =e conn uns on SSS oie 250 ‘Telefar No (078) 428071 Webste winrabeguoeci — E-mal Addrest ubbubaguo.ada 3. Proving Congruent Triangles 3.1. To strengthen our knowledge on this topic, we go back to pages 265-274 of your textbook or pages 13-18 of the uploaded Module. The lesson revolves around "Proving Congruent Triangles where itis highlighted that: ‘a. properties of congruence and equality are useful in proving two triangles to be congruent; b. writing proof (skill) using two-column form is used as form of, proving triangles to be congruent; and c. the 4 postulates are your bases and guide in proving congruent triangles. Check up activity At this point you are now being challenged to show how far you can apply the concepts above by proving triangles to be congruent. Open the attached worksheet #2 entitled” Worksheets on proving congruent triangles”. Carefully read the given instructions and perform the needed solutions. It's expected that said worksheets be submitted via messenger or yahoo mail on April 24, 2020. Since the lesson was discussed in details, this will fall part of your Summative Assessment. This ends our lesson for this week. I hope and expect that you learned the needed competencies or skills. Have a blessed weekend but again do not forget to submit your worksheets. See you next week! 5. Short Recall (Proving triangle congruence) Recalling the concepts on proving triangles to be congruent, before we can say of conclude that two triangles are congruent, there are properties that must be proven first ‘As discussed in the previous lesson, we can show that two triangles are congruent using the S55 Congruence Postulate, SAS Congruence Postulate, ASA Congruence Postulate, and AAS Congruence Theorem. These postulates and theorem are our bases to or reasons why the triangles are congruent. Aside from the different congruence postulates and theorem, we can use the previously learned definitions, properties, theorems, and postulates in proving triangle congruence. Proving Statements on Triangle Congruence Since you alseady know how to prove triangle congruence, let us ‘move on to learning how to prove statements on triangle congruence. Tn this lesson, your knowledge on proving tiangles are very important because you need first to prove that the two triangles are congruent then apply the concept of CPCTC. So what is. CPCTC? CPCTC- Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent For example, If A 2? & A 229 then Angle A = Angle 8 = SIEGnnae Angle C these as Side AB conclusions Side BC © Side EF, Side AC = Side DF If two triangles are congruent, then its corresponding parts are also congruent. To remember this idea, we may use the acronym CPCTC, which stands for Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent. : u i Pk ise gre ah ase ZanbiO; mein aM pina aC crgaeR mam at = HO No “AzeM eBzLN “cx20 The congruent parts can also be identified easily through correspondence. The corresponding sides and angles can be determined from the triangle congruence statement by following the order of the letters. For example, SABC & AMNO indicates the following congruence: AABC © AMNO. Again, make sure you study each step and understand very well the explanation given. C. Deepen Real-life problems. a. Now, we will have examples on how congruent triangles are used in real-life, ‘Once again, open the module and restudy the first page and study page 23-24, Again, study carefully the given example and its’ solutions or explanation. b. Now that you have learned how triangle congruence in real-life is applied, let us move on by answering on your notebook the process questions below. b.d In real life, how important is observing first before drawing conclusion? b.2.
