LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT (SUMMARY)

 LEADERSHIP AS CULURARY BOUND. Culture shapes individuals' social,

economic, and political relationships, creating identity and lifestyles. It influences

leadership and societal views, as the environment influences individuals' thinking and

behavior regarding authority.

 Empowerment is the degree of autonomy and self-determination in people and in

communities. This enables them to represent their interests in a responsible and self-

determined way, acting on their own authority.

 Impression Management: Impression management is the goal-directed effort to

influence others' perceptions of a person, object, or event through social interaction,

aiming to present oneself in the way they would like to be perceived.

 Decision making involves identifying, gathering, and assessing alternatives, using a

step-by-step process for deliberate choices.

 Clarify= Clearly identify the decision to be made or the problem to be solved.

Consider=Think about the possible choices and what would happen for each choice.

Think about the positive and negative consequences for each choice.

Choose=Choose the best choice.

 Four decision-making models: rational, bounded rationality, intuitive, creative,

influenced by decision maker experience.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT (REACTION)

Managers use their leadership skills to guide their teams and enhance the
organization. Leadership may necessitate managers making decisions that affect staff. It is
helpful to understand how decision-making abilities assist in making difficult choices as a
leader to make practical judgments. A well-crafted decision moves business forward, and
systematizing how these decisions are made ensures that the choices are the best for the
group.

Leaders, such as CEOs of enormous multinational businesses, small-business

owners, and administrators in higher education institutions, must regularly make decisions
that affect the company. Decision-making is the act of thinking through a process, reaching a
personal or collaborative consensus, and then acting on that consensus. The stakeholders,
who are the individuals or groups affected by the company (i.e. employees, vendors,
consumers, and shareholders), are one of the significant variables in decision-making inside
an organization. One thing to remember as an organizational leader is that decision-making
is a process. Processing decisions can assist in choosing the best solution for the problem at
hand, but it can have severe repercussions if leaders are too hasty in their decision-making.
For example, suppose productivity is poor within an administration or organization, and the
first course of action is to terminate everyone in the office. In that case, this is a hasty choice
that harms individuals and the company.

Two fundamental leadership roles are making decisions and managing people who
make decisions beneath you. You can ensure each decision is the best possible by
systematizing your decision-making process. Members of your company will appreciate a
structured, fair decision-making process, and your organization will benefit more fully from
their skills.
