Classification of Triangles Grade 7

The document provides a detailed lesson plan for teaching triangles in 7th grade mathematics. The lesson plan aims to define different types of triangles, construct triangles, and apply triangle concepts to word problems. Key points of the lesson include playing a game to motivate students about triangles, presenting the objectives and conducting an activity to classify triangles, and analyzing student work to discuss classifying triangles.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATHICS

Triangles (Geometry)
Grade 7
CONTENT STANDARD

 The learners demonstrate understanding of the key concept of geometry

of shapes and sizes and geometric relationships.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD

 The learner is able to create models of plane figures and formulate and
solve accurately authentic problems involving sides and angles of a
polygon.

LEARNING COMPETENCY

 Construct triangles, squares, rectangles, regular pentagons and

hexagons.

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson the students are expected to;

a. define the different kinds of triangles;

b. construct different kinds of triangles; and
c. apply the concept of different kinds of triangles in solving worded
problem.

and projector

e. Skills to Develop: Visualizing, Representing, Communicating, and Applying

f. Values to be integrated: Productivity, Perseverance, and Teamwork

g. Concept:
 ACUTE TRIANGLE – is a triangle whose interior angles are all acute.
 RIGHT TRINGLE- is a triangle whose interior angle is a right. (measure 90
degrees)
 OBTUSE TRIANGLE –is a triangle whose one of its interior angle is
obtuse. ( measures more than 90 degrees but not less than 180 degrees)
 EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE –all sides are congruent or equal
 ISOSCELES TRIANGLE –only two sides are congruent
 SCALENE TRIANGLE –there are no congruent sides

Before we proceed to
another topic for
today, let us first look
back on what you
know about polygons.

What is Polygon?
A polygon is the union
of three or more line
segments whose
endpoints meet.

What are the different

kinds of polygon? Kinds of polygons are
triangle, quadrilateral,
pentagon, hexagon,
heptagon, octagon,
nonagon, decagon,
dodecagon, etc.
How can we name the
polygon? According to their
sides and angles.
It seems like you are
ready for the next
topic. But before we
proceed, let’s have

Because maam during

classify triangles
according to sides and

Let us first discuss the

triangles according to EQUILATERAL,
its sides. Can you SCALENE AND

can classify to their
side?
Based from the given

which all sides are

triangles have no

sides are congruent

Now, do you have any

question?
Get ½ sheet of paper.

EVALUATION

1. Give and define the different types of triangle according to its sides and angles.
2. Draw the different types of triangles and differentiate it.
3. Erin made a triangular cake and he names it according to the one type of a
triangle. The measures of two angle is 120 0 and 100. What is the name of this
cake? Find the angle of the other side. Use your protractor and ruler to find the
answer and Illustrate.

ASSIGNMENT

1. Make an art using the different types of Triangle on a short bond paper.
2. Study the properties of a triangle.
