3 General
The remote control operates in several different modes as follows:
The default mode is Basic mode. The device powers up in Basic mode, and returns to Basic mode under the following
circumstances:
The [CLEAR] key is pushed
More than 5 digits are entered when selecting a menu item.
An advanced mode finishes executing.
Most modes have menu structure to execute commands. The menu choice is selected by entering a number associated
with the command.
Using the remote control it is possible to layer commands. For example, you can start an I/O monitor, start a pump
operation and start a bridge motion in any order. All the requested actions continue until the [STOP] key is pressed.
4 STOP Key
In Maintenance mode, the [STOP] key is used to stop machine motion, turn off pumps, abort the current move and clear
all errors and warnings. The [STOP] key does not work in Run mode. Use [INSTANT][9][9][ENTER] to abort a wash in
progress.
Persistent errors are not cleared automatically. These are mainly motor drive related errors where the actual error may
be transitory. A [STOP] command must be given to clear the error or warning. For example, if you issue a command to
move the front bridge back, and you receive a drive communication error, you must first fix the drive communication
error and then hit the [STOP] button to clear the drive fault error.
5 INFO Key
When the [INFO] button is pushed, the system speaks a report on the status of the wash. It can be started at any time
including while washing a vehicle. The report can be stopped by hitting the [STOP] button. There are no menu items for
this mode.
When the [INFO] button is pressed the machine annunciates the state of the machine by playing the following audio
messages:
Entry Status - Gives the status of the entry station interface including any reason that it is closed.
Wash Status - Gives the status of wash (Maintenance, Idle, Washing, Recovery, etc.)
Stuck in Bay – Announces if there is a stuck in bay event.
Bridge Home Status – If waiting for a vehicle and the bridges are not at the load position, announces an
error.
Trouble Reports - Reports on any unusual machine operations.
Node Communication Errors
Heater Errors and Warnings
Arch Impact Active
Tank fill errors
Failed Temperature sensor[s]
System Stop Active
Motor Drive Errors
When going to ‘Run’ mode, a system test is run. If there is a problem, the test will annunciate the problem every 5
seconds until the problem is cleared or the test is aborted. After five attempts to go to ‘Run’ the system will stop, send
and error email, and remain in Maintenance mode.
If there is a problem when going to the Run mode, the user can abort the system test and return to Maintenance mode
by pressing the [STOP] key on the remote control.
The system also attempts to move the bridge to the load position when going to ‘Run’ mode. If it is not successful after
five attempts, the system reverts to Maintenance mode.
7 Joystick Operation
WARNING! – WHEN OPERATING THE MACHINE IN MANUAL MODE WITH THE REMOTE
CONTROL, THE USER WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL IS IN CONTROL OF ALL MACHINE
FUNCTIONS. ALWAYS BE AWARE OF THE MACHINE MOTION AND FUNCTION WITH
RESPECT TO PEOPLE AND PROPERTY IN THE WASH BAY WHEN OPERATING IN MANUAL
MODE.
The joystick keys are active when the wash is in maintenance mode only. Pressing a key starts the indicated motion:
Key Motion
↑ Bridge move front
↓ Bridge move back
← Trolley move left
→ Trolley move right
Arch rotate CCW
Moves in the direction that the arch is pointing are prohibited; this is done to prevent spearing doors or walls. If at an
extent, moves further into the extent are prohibited unless the [ALT] key is used.
If the [ALT] key is pressed before the joystick keys, the move is made at a very low speed and most errors and all extent
and arch positions are ignored. This allows making moves before the machine is fully setup and in special
circumstances.
CAUTION! – WHEN A MACHINE MOVE IS MADE WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL AT LOW
SPEED WITH THE [ALT] KEY, THE BRIDGE AND TROLLEY DO NOT UNTIL THE MACHINE
PHYSICALLY IMPACTS AN END STOP. KEEP HANDS AND BODY PARTS CLEAR WHEN
OPERATING IN THIS MODE TO PREVENT CRUSHING BETWEEN THE MOVING MACHINE
AND THE END STOPS.
When a joystick key is pressed the wash plays an audio message indicating the motion to be started. If the machine is
not able to start the motion it plays another audio message indicating why the motion could not be started.
If a joystick key is pressed, and the bridge or trolley is in motion, the motion is stopped. Arch moves cannot be stopped
once started. This stop (second key press) is for bridge motion only, other layered commands continue to execute.
The [] key is used to index the arch 90 degrees CCW (counter-clockwise). If the [ALT] key is pressed before the []
key, the arch indexes 90 degrees CW (clockwise).
8 IO Mon Key
8.1 General
The I/O monitor is used to monitor and force I/O points. The I/O monitor can only be active when the wash is in
maintenance mode.
Pressing the [IO Mon] button enters the input monitor. Pressing the [ALT] button followed by the [IO Mon] button
starts the output monitor. The monitor annunciates it state by playing an audio message indicating the type of monitor
(input or output).
The user must then indicate the I/O point to be monitored by entering its code. The first digit of the code is the node as
follows:
NODE ID
ACTIVATION 1
BRIDGE 2
PUMP 3
BAY 4
HEAT 6
Ultrasonic Digital Monitor 8
Ultrasonic Analog Monitor 9
The rest of the digits of the code indicate the point to monitor as follows:
If the first digit of the point to monitor is zero, it is an optional key press. For example, both of the following commands
are equivalent (and monitor the arch impact sensor input, X201):
[IO Mon][2][0][1][ENTER]
--or--
[IO Mon][2][1][ENTER]
[IO Mon][4][0][3][ENTER]
[IO Mon][3][1][0][ENTER]
For example, to monitor and control the Pump node output Y305 press:
[ALT][IO Mon][3][0][5][ENTER]
The [On] and [Off] keys can now be used to force Y305 on or off.
The [STOP] button will turn off the manual control of the output.
For example to monitor the arch voltage in mv press: [IO Mon][7][1][ENTER]. If the voltage is 3.567 volts the system will
annunciate Three-Five-Six-Seven.
When a loading sensor detects the floor, the display shows an ‘X’. When the loading sensor detects a vehicle, the
display shows an up arrow.
The ‘Bridge – Entrance and Exit Pairs’ [IO Mon][8][3][ENTER] monitor is useful to test system loading. The display shows
the following:
When the loading system is clear, the display shows the red ‘X’.
When the entrance (“stop”) sensors only are blocked, the display shows an up arrow.
When the entrance (“stop”) and exit (“back-up”) sensors are all blocked, the display shows the up arrow and
down arrow simultaneously.
When the exit (“back-up”) sensors only are blocked, the display shows a down arrow.
Note: the UBF sonic control requires that the beam be broken by a minimum width (800mm by default). A small target
(i.e. one average person) will not cause a vehicle detection.
For example, to monitor the front bridge right entrance ultrasonic, press:
[IO Mon][9][1][ENTER]
The display will indicate the approximate distance to the floor using the above signs codes and audio messages.
9 Instant Mode
Instant commands can be entered at any time. The following commands are available:
If the setup parameter to require password for manual wash is selected, the wash code must be preceded by a four
digit password.
For example:
To issue package 1 when passwords are not required, press:
[Instant][1][ENTER]
To issue package 1 when passwords are required (example password is “6789”), press:
[Instant][6][7][8][9][1][ENTER]
10 Status Mode
