GUIDELINES FOR SUMMER INTERNSHIP
OVERVIEW OF THE SIP

The summer internship is an eight-week organizational study from 1 st June to 31st July 2023. The
SIP is a compulsory course weighing THREE credits (100 marks). Students are encouraged to
intern in any reputed manufacturing or service organization and complete it within the stipulated
time. At the end of the internship, each student should submit a certificate from the company (if
any) and report as per the format. (Format enclosed)
The main objective of the summer internship is as follows:

 To expose students to corporate culture.


 To provide real-time exposure to the organization and its functions.
 To understand the various tools and techniques used in an organization
 To gain an understanding of the organization from Mc Kinsey framework
 SWOT framework for identifying and analyzing an organization's strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
 Learn to work professionally, meet deadlines and contribute toward organizational
productivity.

Students, during their engagement with the organization during the Summer Internship,
are required to note the following points:

1. Students should interact with the Faculty Guide regularly for the timely preparation and
submission of the internship report. Students must strictly adhere to the disciplinary and
ethical codes of behavior in practice at the company where they are doing their
internship.
2. Students should inform/update their respective Guide weekly through emails (Weekly
report format enclosed) or in person regarding the progress. The weekly reports duly
countersigned by the Faculty Guide and student are to be enclosed as a part of the SIP
report as Annexure - II.
3. During the internship, the topic for the research can be as per the company's
requirements, or in case of the absence of specific needs by the company; the student can
formulate the research topic based on the allotted tasks and responsibilities. The research
project may be either based on primary or secondary data. Students should take the prior
approval of the questionnaire (if any), and the data has to be analyzed using appropriate
statistical tools to arrive at logical and consistent findings.
4. The submission of the SIP report is on or before 30th Aug 2023. Submissions after the
due date will not be entertained. (Format is enclosed).
5. Contents of SIP report are as follows:
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
CHAPTER I – INTRODUCTION
A brief history of growth and developments in the industry, future growth prospects,
Govt. Policies related to the specific industry, major players in the industry, etc.

CHAPTER II – COMPANY ANALYSIS


Vision, Mission, Objectives, Quality Policy, products/services, etc.

Organizational Hierarchy- Roles & Responsibilities, Designations, reporting structure,


departments, and design. The student intern should know and prepare a report on

SWOT Analysis (of the Internship Company) -Student Interns should study the economic
environment in which the company operates, understand its past progress, and analyze its
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

7S Framework (of the Internship Company) -The framework aims to depict how change
leaders can effectively manage organizational change by strategizing around the
interactions of seven key elements: structure, strategy, system, shared values, skill, style,
and staff.

CHAPTER III – TASKS ACCOMPLISHED DURING THE INTERNSHIP

CHAPTER IV – ANALYSIS OF THE RESEARCH UNDERTAKEN

1. Introduction – Conceptual introduction to the research topic


2. Research Design- Statement of the problem, Objectives of the research problem,
scope of the study, Methodology (sample size, data collection, questionnaire,
statistical tools used for analysis, PERT, CPM task process, flow charts)
3. Analysis of Data
4. Findings, Conclusions, and Recommendations (suggestions to solve the research
problem undertaken only)

 Pages I to VIII should not be numbered


 The report should be a minimum of 50 pages and not exceeding 85 pages
 Page numbers to be mentioned from I to IV chapters ( Exclude bibliography &
Annexure)
 The heading font should be 16, the subheading should be 14, and the text part should
be 12 (Times New Roman).
