Communication #1 – User Awareness

Dear Colleagues,

We hope you are doing well.

As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain improved performance and security, we are excited to
announce that we will be upgrading all eligible computers to Windows 11, the latest operating
system from Microsoft.

Benefits of upgrading to Windows 11

Windows 11 is the latest version of Microsoft's operating system, and it offers a number of new
features and improvements, including:

 A more modern and user-friendly interface

 Improved performance and security
 New productivity and collaboration tools
 Support for Android apps

We believe that upgrading to Windows 11 will make our computers more efficient and productive,
and it will also provide staff with a better user experience.

When will the upgrade be available?

The upgrade process will start in early September and will be completed by July 30th, 2024. The
upgrade will be done region by region, and we will inform you of the schedule for your region in
advance. You do not need to do anything to receive the upgrade, as it will be done automatically via
Intune.

Is my computer eligible?
To upgrade to Windows 11, your computer model must meet the minimum hardware requirements
of Windows 11. Most computer models manufactured after February 2018 will be eligible. Older
models will remain on Windows 10, but they should be replaced as soon as possible as they are no
longer supported. Please get in touch with your local IT support for additional details.

What will happen during the upgrade?

While Microsoft has enhanced the upgrade experience and reduced the upgrade time, the full OS
upgrade will take longer than recent Windows 10 updates containing a scoped set of features. The
initial download and install takes about 90 minutes; this occurs in the background, so you can
continue to work during this period. You’ll be prompted to manually restart your device, and this
second part of the installation will complete for most in about 20 minutes or less.

The default experience will be for files and data to move forward with Windows 11. However, we
recommend that you sync your files to OneDrive before the upgrade to the new Windows version.
