ABSTRACT
TITTLE: ELECTRONIC WATCHDOG PROJECT
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Traditionally and even now many people use some pets such as dogs which are
stationed in the entrance of their home. The purpose of the dogs is they bark
whenever a person enters through the gate. This is why I named this project
electronic watchdog project as it performs the same task of detecting the
presence of a person at the entrance of a premise.
The circuit comprises a transmitter unit and a receiver unit, which are mounted
face to face on the opposite pillar of the gate such that the IR beam gets
interrupted when someone is standing at the gate or passing through it

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Having dogs although it comes with some advantages it also has some
disadvantage which include
1. Financial burden: The initial expenses of dog ownership include the
adoption or breeder fees, supplies (e.g., crate, leash, toys), and a visit to the
veterinarian for vaccinations and a wellness check
2. 2. Loss of spontaneity. Perhaps you are used to living a life in which you are
free to come and go as you please. When you add a dog to the mix, it
becomes more important to plan ahead, as you must ensure that your
dog's needs for exercise and toileting are met
3. Decreased cleanliness and order in your home. If you are used to keeping
your living space spotless, dog ownership is likely to be an adjustment.
Though some dog breeds are hypoallergenic and do not shed, it is
inevitable that dogs will make their presence known in one way or another,
be it through the smell of wet dog fur after a rainy day walk or a chewed-up
flip flop that you forgot to put away

4.using of pets for security sometimes isn’t cut out to be advantageous for
everyone for some people are allergic to animal
PROBLEM SOLUTION
1.IT detects foes and friends which alerts you either way for earlier preparation
2.its advantageous for people allergic to dogs
3.although we have security cameras and electric fences for security purpose they
some time fail due to power outage or power overload therefor with the
watchdog project it will only be relying on its on battery so it will never fail
4.its 100% efficient and accurate
5. lower energy wastage

SYSTEM OBJECTIVES
Electronic watchdog is used for your house that sounds to inform you that
somebody is at gate or passing through it. The circuit comprises of a transmitter
unit and receiver units, which are mounted face to face on the opposite pillars of
the gate or door such that the IR beam transmitted through IR LED1 of the
transmitter, get interrupted when someone is standing at the gate or passing
through it.
BLOCK DIAGRAM FOR WATCH DOG PROJECT

BLOCK DIAGRAM DESCRIPTION

A pair of IR sensor transmitter and receiver are placed at the entrance of the
premises that needs to be secured. The IR rays from transmitter reaches the IR
receiver making it signal to the 555 IC know that currently there is no present in
between the sensors. But as soon as an intruder cuts the IR rays, the receiver
output changes resulting the 555 IC to trigger. This eventually leads in triggering
UM66 IC. Due to these series of events the speaker connected at the output of
the circuit board starts ringing thus notifying about the intruder at the secured
perimeter.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM FOR ELECTRONIC WATCHDOG PROJECT

The transmitter circuit diagram is built around timer NE555 (IC1), which is wired
as an a stable multi vibrator producing a frequency of about 38 kHz. The infrared
(IR) beam is transmitted through IR LED1.
The receiver circuit diagram above is comprising IR sensor TSOP1738 (IR RX1), npn
transistor BC548 (T1), timer NE555 (IC2) and some resistors and capacitors. IC2 is
wired as a monostable multi vibrator with a time period of around 30 seconds.
The melody generator section is built around melody generator IC UM66 (IC3),
transistor T2 and loudspeaker LS1. connecting its points, A and B to the respective
points of the receiver circuit. The receiver is powered by regulated 6V DC. For the
purpose, you can use a 6V battery.
