Binago Sa Demo Math

This document provides a learning plan for a 2nd grade mathematics lesson on multiplication of whole numbers. The lesson objectives are for students to identify multiplication, display different ways to multiply, and express feelings about family members. Students will visualize multiplication of numbers 1-10 by 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10. The lesson will include interactive activities with groups of objects to represent multiplication equations and assignments for students to practice.

review
Do you remember what we discussed yesterday?
What is Addition of Whole numbers?
How addition helps you in every life?

Motivation
The pupils answer the pre- passement to check how much they
know about this topic.
Find the product

Discussion

Multiplication –Multiplication is one of the four elementary mathematical

operations of arithmetic, with the other ones being addition, subtraction, and
division. The result of a multiplication operation is called a product.
Repeated addition- The multiplication of whole numbers may be thought of
as a repeated addition; that is, the multiplication of two numbers is equivalent to
adding as many copies of one of them, the multiplicand, as the quantity of the
other one, the multiplier. Both numbers can be referred to as factors

For example, 4 multiplied by 3, often written as 3×4 and spoken as "3 times 4",
can be calculated by adding 3
copies of 4 together: 3×4=4+4+4=12
here, 3 (the multiplier) and 4 (the multiplicand) are the factors, and 12 is the
product. One of the main properties of multiplication is the commutative
property, which states in this case that adding 3 copies of 4 gives the same result
as adding 4 copies of 3: 4×3=3+3+3+3=12

Counting of multiples- A multiple is a number you say when you "count by" a
number, or use skip-counting. When counting by fives, it is like saying only the
answers on the 5 times table: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60. and so
on. All of these numbers are called multiples of five.

equal jumps - Representing a multiplication statement on a number line can be

done by taking jumps the multiplier number of times, of size equivalent to the
multiplicand from zero.
For example: 4 × 2 = 8.

Interaction
Activity
Present the following group of objects.

1. 2 groups of 2 pencils
2. 3 groups of 2 ballpen
3. 4 groups of 2 erasers

Ask: How many groups of pencils were there?

How many pencils were there in each group?

How many pencils were there in all?

(Ask these questions for ballpen and erasers)

Ask the pupils to write a related equation of the above situation using
repeated addition. You may ask the pupils to show other ways.
Now show an illustration of the above situation.

Ask: How many groups of objects were there in number 1? 2? 3?

How many objects were there in each group?

How many objects were there in all?

(You may call some pupils to count the illustration.)

This time show the multiplication equation of the above situation as
shown below:
1. 2 x 2 = 4 or 2 + 2 = 4
2. 3 x 2 = 6 or 2 + 2 + 2 = 6
3. 4 x 2 = 8 or 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8

Generalization
1. what is multiplication?
2.what are the parts of the multiplication table?

Integration

Draw a line connecting the multiplication expression with the

correct products
2x3 16
2x8 14
2 x 12 24
2x2 4
2 x 10 10
2x 2 20
2x6 18
2x9 12
2x5 6
2x1 2
