Opening questions: How far has your country advanced in terms of water consumption and care in the last years?
For exercise #1ask students how far has your country advanced in terms of water consumption and care
in the last years? Write a concluding paragraph. (5 minutes)
Students go to their digital l Awesome Reader and Writer and read “Water is Might” Write ten words that
are new to you. Look for the meaning in a dictionary in exercise #2 and in exercsie #3 students choose
five ideas from the text that you found interesting. Write them in order of importance for you. (10
minutes)
For exercise #4 students look at the pictures on the left. How are they related? Write your answer. (5
minutes)
Students listen to the track. What did Jane find out about Sao Paulo? Check (✓) the correct statements in
exercise #5 and in exercise #6 students Listen to the track again. Write “T” for true or “F” for false next to
each sentence. (10 minutes)
For exercise #7 How much do you remember from the voice message? Write as many sentences as you
can.

Students brainstorm some ideas about how your community uses water. Share your ideas with a
classmate and add some new ones. (5 minutes)
Students read “Water in Brazil: Facts and Figures.” Write the number from the fact that provides
the information given in exercise #6 and in exercise #7 students read the text again. Write five
questions about it. (10 minutes)
For exercise #8 students Think about your water consumption everyday. Work with a classmate
and follow these instructions: 1. Compare what you and your classmate have in common about
using water every day. 2. Share your results with the rest of the class. 3. Use the space below for

students look at Exercises 3 and 4. Choose some beginnings and write your own ideas about water harvesting. (10 minutes)
