Emails in enteliWEB
View products this article applies to: enteliWEB
Description
We are often asked how to configure enteliWEB to send out alarm notification emails. This KbA provides
step-by-step instructions for setting up and testing alarm notification emails in enteliWEB.
Solution
Step 1: Set up enteliWEB's email configuration settings.
a.
Open enteliWEB and select the gear icon in the top right corner to open the Administration
page.
b. Under Configuration, select Email Configuration.
c. Under SMTP server setting, enter your company's SMTP Server information, Port number,
Username and Password (if needed for your server).
d. Under Email sender setting, enter your Sender name, Sender email address, and the
enteliWEB host name (this is used to link back to the enteliWEB server from the email).
e. Select Save, then select Test Configuration. If the settings are configured correctly, a test email
will be sent to the email address you entered in the Sender email address field.
NOTE: If the test email is not received, verify that the SMTP Server information is correct.
c. Select (or create) the user that will receive the email alerts.
d. Enter the user's email address in the Email Address field.
NOTE: Make sure the user you have selected has the necessary permissions to receive
email alerts. Use the Admin user for testing email configuration settings if feasible.
f. Under Users, select the user that was configured to receive email alerts, select Subscribe to
Email, and then select Set.
g. Select any filters needed, making sure to not filter out the test EV object.
h. Select Apply and close the Manage Filters window.
NOTE: Make sure that the test filter is the only filter currently selected.
i. Select Navigation from enteliWEB's navigation menu, and then select the test EV object that was
set up in a previous step.
j. Select Command, and then select Manual Value.
k. Under Value, select Alarm to force the EV object into an alarmed state.
l. Go back to Alarms from enteliWEB's navigation menu and confirm that the test EV alarm
notification is displayed under your alarm filter.
m. Check your email. If the previous steps were followed properly there should be an alert email in
your inbox.
More Information
Each user profile in enteliWEB has a setting Email Format which flips between HTML and SMS. This
controls the size of the message sent. The idea is that people receiving on phones might be happier with
the results by using the SMS setting.
