Instructions:
1. Prepare Materials: Create a set of picture cards. Each card must depict any common object or
action. Keep it easy and simple.
2. Groupings: The class will be divided into 4 groups.
3. Introduce the Exercise: Explain to the students that they will be playing “Word Matching Game”
wherein they will listen to the words that the teacher will say and match it with correct card.
4. Audio Instructions: Pronounce each word from any of the picture cards clearly and slowly.
5. Match the word: After the teacher will say the word, the students have 2 minutes to decide which
of the picture cards corresponds to what they have heard.
6. Repetition: Repeat the process with different words and corresponding picture cards.
7. Review and Feedback: After each round, review the words and images together, ensuring that
everyone was able to understand the matches.
Exercise: Sound Hunt

Instructions:
1. Prepare Sound Clips: Prepare short audio clips that contains various sounds, such as musical
instruments, object, animals. Make sure the audio clip is short and clear.
2. Groupings: The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group must pick their representative.
3. Introduce the Exercise: Explain to the students that they will be playing “Sound Hunt” wherein
they will listen to the audio clips that is being played.
4. Play the clips: Play the audio clips more than once and one by one.
5. Write them down: As they listen to the audio clips, have the students to write down what they
have observed and heard.
6. Group Presentation: After playing all the clips, have their group representative in front to share to
the class what are their guesses. Play each audio clips again and reveal the correct answer.
7. Class Discussion: After the activity, give them positive feedback and discuss to them the
importance of focusing on details while listening.
Exercise: Sentence Reconstruction

Instructions:
1. Prepare Sentences: Create a set of sentences. Divide the sentences into series of individual words and
phrases.
3. Introduce the Exercise: Explain to the class that they will be playing “Sentence Reconstruction”. Their
task is to listen carefully, identify the phrases, and rearrange those words and phrases to form the correct
sentence.
4. Read Aloud: Read each word and phrases aloud, clear, and slowly. Say it repeatedly as needed.
5. Reconstruction: As you read each word and phrases, have the students work with their pairs to
rearrange the phrases to form a correct sentence.
6. Compare: After each sentence, have the students share their reconstructed sentences. Allow them to
inspect which areas of their answer differs from the others.
7. Class Discussion: Ask them how they were able to reconstruct the spoken and mixed-up words and
proceed with the class discussion.
Exercise: Story Summarization

1. Choose a Short Story: Choose a very short and simple story with a clear main idea. Make sure
your story is relevant to the learner’s age. Preferred to choose a story that its quite familiar to
everyone.
2. Pre-Story Telling: Before you proceed with the story telling, it is effective to activate the learner’s
prior knowledge to awaken their interest in listening. Briefly discuss what is the topic of the short
story.
3. Listen to the Story: Play the audio recording of the story. Make sure that the story was read in
slow pace with clear pronunciation.
4. Summarize the Story: After listening to the story, call someone from the class to verbally
summarize what they understood from the story. Encourage them to focus on expressing the main
idea and key events.
5. Compare with the Others: Call a few more learner to share their own summarization and compare
their responses.
6. Replay: Play the audio recording of the story again. This time, learners can listen for any
additional details they missed.
Exercise: Predict and Discuss

1. Choose a Text: Select a short audio clip or a video clip related to a topic of the learner’s interest.
Make sure the content is suitable for their comprehension level.
2. Introduction of the Activity: Introduce to the learners that they will be having an activity that
requires their prior knowledge. Introduce the topic of the text and provide some context because
they will be predicting and discussing it with the other learners.
3. Groupings: The class will be in pairs.
4. Listen to the Text: Play the audio passage or video clip and encourage students to listen carefully.
Have them focus on identifying main ideas and supporting details. Make sure that the audio
passage is audible and clear.
5. Predictions: After listening, have students discuss in pairs how well their predictions matched the
actual content of the text.
6. Discussion: One pair at a time, have them in front to share their predictions and thoughts.
Encourage the learners to highlight the main ideas they identified.
Exercise: Predicting the Story

1. Choose a Story: Select a short story and ensure that that story has a clear beginning.
2. Pre-listening: Before playing the story, provide any information about the story without giving the
entire details of what the story is all about. For instance, the book cover or the title. Ask the
students to predict what might be the story all about based on the given information.
3. Introduction: Explain to the students that they will listen to the beginning of the story. During the
listening, their task is to predict what might happen next.
4. Listen to the Beginning: Play the beginning of the audio recoding of the story. Have the students
listen carefully.
5. Predictions: Have the students share their predictions with a partner. Encourage them to use the
information they have gathered so far.
6. Continue Listening: Play the rest of the story. Compare students’ predictions with what happened
in the story.

1. Divide the class into two teams. The teacher will be the judge.
2. Choose a topic for the debate.
3. Assign roles to each student. Each team should have an equal number of debaters.
4. Provide time for both teams to research their arguments and prepare their points.
5. Conduct the debate. Each debater is given 2 minutes to lay and present their arguments.
6. After presenting the arguments from 1 of the 2 teams, the opposing team will now oppose and
present their arguments.
7. Rotate between speakers from both sides and summarize accordingly.
8. After the debate, the judge can share his/her observations and provide feedback on each team’s
performance.
