INTRODUCTION
This Quick Reference Card (QRC) provides users with the steps on how to use nested filters in a report query.
This QRC begins in the ACE Reports Home tab.

NESTED FILTERS
Step Action

1.
Select the Create Ad Hoc Report button.
The Create Ad Hoc Report dialog displays.

2. In the Universe: field, select a Universe from the drop-down menu.

3. In the Report Name: field, type a report name (optional).

Select the Create Adhoc button.
A blank report table displays in the Viewer panel. The report name also displays as a web
intelligence tab in the header panel.

Select the Design button.
The report displays in Design mode view.

6.
Select the Edit Data Provider icon.
The Query Panel displays.

TIP: Users can also access the Edit Data Provider icon from the Data Access tab
by selecting the Edit Data Provider icon from the Data Providers sub-
tab.

7.
Select and drag the bottom-right corner of the Query Panel to expand it, if necessary.

8. In the expanded class folder, drag and drop the data objects into the Result Objects panel.

TIP: To move multiple data objects:


a. Hold down the Control (Ctrl) or Shift key while selecting other Available
Objects. Ctrl selects one object at a time and Shift selects a range of
objects.
b. Select the Right arrow to move objects into the panel/Left arrow to remove
objects from the panel. These arrows are adjacent to either the Result
Objects or Query Filters panels.

Step Action

9. To add a nested filter to the data objects within the Query Filters panel:

a. Select the Add nested filter icon in the Query Filters panel.
An OR operator displays. This allows users to add a nested sub-query.
b. Drag and drop the required data objects to the right of the OR operator.

c. Select an operator from the In List drop-down menu.

d. Select a filter type from the Define filter type drop-down menu.

NOTE: Setting the Define filter type value to Prompt:

a. Causes the Show prompt properties icon to display to the left of the
Define filter type icon.
b. Causes the filter to display in the Prompts dialog box when the query is run.

10. To change the prompt value to optional or mandatory (optional):


a. Select the Prompt Properties icon.
The Prompt Properties dialog displays.

b. In the Prompt Properties dialog, select the Optional Prompt


checkbox.
c. Select the OK button.

NOTE: A checkmark in the Optional prompt checkbox indicates the prompt is set
to optional.

11. Select the Run Query button.


The Prompts dialog box displays.

12. Input the required Prompt values and select the OK button.

13.
Select the Available Objects icon.

14. To add the new data objects to the report:


a. Select the data objects from the Available Objects panel.
b. Drag and drop the data objects within the report
The report displays in the Viewer panel.
