What are the geographical and physical conditions of the Philippines that affect
the climate?

III. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES


1. ENGAGEMENT
Ask the learners to answer the following questions:
What day do you prefer? Sunny day or rainy day? Why?
What activities do you have that are affected by the season?

2. EXPLORATION
Engage the pupils to hands-on activity. Have the following classroom standards
set first:
 Manner of grouping the pupils
 Behavior during group work
 Precautionary measures to be observed
 Duration of Activity/Time Allotment
 Pupil’s engagement in the activity

Note: Remind the class of the standards in doing group activity.


Tell the learners to fill out the table on page 204 on a separate sheet of paper.
Ask them to list down the different activities that are appropriate during dry
and wet seasons. Then ask the learners: From the activities that you wrote,
which of them are risky? Let them suggest some ways to reduce the risks while
doing those activities.
3. EXPLANATION:
Allow the learners to read the climate and life on pages 202-203.
Guide Questions:
What are the effects of climate in our health?
What are the effects of climate on livelihood?
2. Let's Go Beyond, page 204
Tell the learners that during the months of June-November, the
Department of Health always releases public health advisories. These
include warnings against diarrhea, dengue, leptospirosis and many more.
Ask them this question:
Why does the DOH issue these advisories at those 23 specified months?

4. ELABORATION:
Strengthen pupils’ learning by discussing about the appropriate activities for
specific seasons in the Philippines.

The seasons affect many aspects of our lives: from the food that we eat to the
clothes that we wear, the things that we do, and the things that we see around us.
There are four different seasons in the world: winter, spring, summer, and
autumn. But in the Philippines, we only have two seasons - the dry and the wet
seasons.
5. EVALUATION:
