3. Characterize the roots of a quadratic equation using the discriminant;
4. Describe the relationship between the coefficients and the roots of a quadratic
equation;
5. Solve equations transformable to quadratic equations (including rational
algebraic equations); and
6. Solve problems involving quadratic equations and rational equations.
WEEK 5 1. Illustrate quadratic inequalities;
Quadratic Inequalities 2. Solve quadratic inequalities, and
3. Solve problems involving quadratic inequalities.
WEEKS 6 - 8 1. Define quadratic functions;
Quadratic Functions 2. Represent quadratic function using: (a) table of values; (b) graph; and (c)
equation.
3. Model real-life situations involving quadratic functions;
4. Transform the quadratic function defined by y=a(x +h)2+ c into

y=a( x−h) +k ;
5. Describe the features of the graph of a quadratic function: (a) domain; (b)
range; (c) intercepts; (d) axis of symmetry; (e) vertex; and (f) direction of the
opening of the parabola;
6. Analyze the effects of changing the values of a, h and k in the equation
y=a( x−h)2 +k of a quadratic function on its graph.
7. Determine the equation of a quadratic function given: (a) a table of values; (b)
graph; (c) zeros; and
8. Solve problems involving quadratic functions.

2. Translate into variation statement a relationship between two quantities given
by: (a) table of values; (b) mathematical equation; (c) a graph, and vice versa;
and
3. Solve problems involving variations.
WEEKS 5 – 7 1. Describe a proportion;
Similarity 2. Apply the fundamental theorems of proportionality to solve problems involving
proportions.
3. Illustrate similarity of figures;
4. Prove the conditions for similarity of triangles (a) SAS similarity theorem, (b)
SSS similarity theorem, (c) AA similarity theorem, (d) right triangle similarity
theorem, (e) special right triangle theorems;
5. Apply the theorems to show that given triangles are similar; and
6. Prove the Pythagorean Theorem
7. Solve problems involving triangle similarity and right triangles.
