Pre Assessment Summary
Methodology (TLP) followed: The materials required w.r.t Unix architecture has been shared to the students.
Students were asked to answer 20 MCQs on the topic shared .There were total 86 students participated in this Activity.
The flip class was conducted to check the knowledge ,analysis and self-learning capability of the students to solve the
problem given

1. Shell is a command interpreter used for interacting with a UNIX system. (Blooms level-L2(Understand))
a.) True
b.) False
2. Which part of the UNIX operating system interacts with the hardware? (Blooms Level –L1(Remember))
a) Kernel
b) Shell
c) vi editor
d) application program
3. Two UNIX systems may or may not use the same set of system calls.(Blooms Level-L2(Understand))

Note : Sample questions are as given above. Questions should be of basic and understanding level. The primary aim of
this exercise is student should understand the topic and able to answer the questions shared before coming to class.
Faculty should set some minimum marks for clearing this pre assessment test. Student has to satisfy the minimum criteria
before coming to class.

Key Findings: Students are able to


 Understand the relationship between kernel and shell, get familiar with UNIX architecture and OS.

Impact Analysis- Pre Assessment


Description/Methodology: Evaluation of 20 questions of total 20 Marks
 86 students attended the activity.
Students have scored an average of 70% for all questions.

Methodology (TLP) followed: During the class students were asked to answer 5 Questions on the topic
shared .There were total 80 students participated in this Activity .The flip class was conducted to check the
knowledge ,analysis and self-learning capability of the students to solve the problem given

1. Apply suitable system calls and UNIX commands for performing file handling tasks (Blooms Level :
L3(Apply))

2. Differentiate UNIX OS with other similar OS (Blooms Level : L4(Analyze))


Note : Sample questions are mentioned above. Questions should focus more on higher order blooms levels (L3-L6).

Key Findings: Students are able to


 Apply the concepts of system calls, library functions for real world problems.
 Differentiate between different operating systems.

Impact Analysis- Classroom Assessment


Description/Methodology: Evaluation of 5 questions of total 25 Marks
 86 students attended the activity.
Students have scored an average of 70% for Question 1 and 60% in Question 2 , 65% for Question 3, 70% for
Question 4 and 80% for Question 5.
