General Instructions : Read the following instructions very carefully and strictly follow
them :
(i) The test is of 3 hours duration and This question paper contains 38 questions. All
questions are compulsory.
(iii) This question paper is divided into five Sections −A, B, C, D and E.
(iv) In Section A, Questions no. 1 to 18 are multiple choice questions (MCQs) and questions
number 19 and 20 are Assertion-Reason based questions of 1 mark each.
(v) In Section B, Questions no. 21 to 25 are very short answer (VSA) type questions,
carrying 2 marks each.
(vi) In Section C, Questions no. 26 to 31 are short answer (SA) type questions, carrying 3
marks each.
(vii) In Section D, Questions no. 32 to 35 are long answer (LA) type questions carrying 5
marks each.
(viii) In Section E, Questions no. 36 to 38 are case study based questions carrying 4 marks
each. Internal choice is provided in 2 marks questions in each case-study.
(ix) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in 2 questions
in Section B, 2 questions in Section C, 2 questions in Section D and 3 questions in
Section E.

32. (a) The ratio of the 11th term to 17th term of an A.P. is 3 : 4. Find the ratio of 5th term
to 21st term of the same A.P. Also, find the ratio of the sum of first 5 terms to that of
first 21 terms.
OR
(b) 250 log are stacked in the following manner : 22 logs in the bottom row, 21 in the next
row, 20 in the row next to it and so on (as shown by an example). In how many rows,
are the 250 logs placed and how many logs are there in the top row?
33. (a) A train travels at a certain average speed for a distance of 54 km and then travels a
distance of 63 km at an average speed of 6 km/h more than the first speed. If it takes
3 hours to complete the journey, what was its first average speed?

34. Show that (12)n cannot end with digit 0 or 5 for any natural number n.

35. A father’s age is three times the sum of the ages of his two children. After 5 years his age
will be two times the sum of their ages. Find the present age of the father.

Case Study 1
36. In Mathematics, relations can be expressed in various ways. The matchstick patterns are
based on linear relations. Different strategies can be used to calculate the number of match-
sticks used in different figures.
One such pattern is shown below. Observe the pattern and answer the following questions
using Arithmetic Progression :
(a) Write the AP for the number of triangles used in the figures. Also, write the nth term
of this AP. (2)

37. (a) While designing the school year book, a teacher asked the student that the length and

(a) Write an algebraic equation depicting the above information. (1)
(b) Write the corresponding quadratic equation in standard form. (1)
(c) What should be the new dimensions of the enlarged photo? (2)

38. Two schools ’ P ’ and ’ Q ’ decided to award prizes to their students for two games of
Hockey Rs x per student and Cricket Rs y per student. School ’ P ’ decided to award a
total of Rs 9, 500 for the two games to 5 and 4 students respectively; while school ’ Q ’
decided to award Rs 7,370 for the two games to 4 and 3 students respectively.
