Fire Alarm System

There are three main types of fire alarm systems: addressable, wireless, and conventional. A conventional system has a fire alarm control panel, initiating devices like smoke detectors, heat detectors, and manual pull stations, and notification devices like strobes, sounders, bells, and speakers. Smoke detectors can be photoelectric or ionization, and heat detectors can be fixed temperature or rate-of-rise. End-of-line resistors are used with initiating and notification devices. CCTV systems use cameras, lenses, monitors, DVRs/NVRs, and cables to prevent and deter crime by allowing remote video monitoring.

Elements:

Camera, lens, monitor unit, DVR/NVR, Cable (coaxial/ethernet), storage devices, DC power supply (12V)
Types: Analog CCTV system: with analog video signal and transfer over coax cable to the DVR.

-Each camera may be powered by plugging in the power supply right at the camera or by using RG59
siamese cable which bundles the video and the power cables.

-Requires DVR to capture image

Digital/ IP CCTV system

- (Internet protocol) refers to a digital video camera that an send and receive data via a computer
network

Outdoor – Bullet (used for entry and exit points with limited night lighting. Have hard shell vandal proof
casings

Box

Indoor camera - Dome

PTZ – pan tilt and Zoom. Can remote control.

IR day/night camera – high alert security areas, used by military personal.

DOME – used in public place (railstation, bus terminal) can be rotated and tilted manually

BULLET - require long distance viewing, fixed or varifocal lenses (outdoor use)

FISH eye – with 180 to 360 degree panoramic view

TYPES of LENS

Fixed – lens size doesn’t change, all we can do is focus. Cannot zoom in or out

Varifocal – size can be changed during the installation
