A research center branch is also located in Habsiguda, Hyderabad. CFTRI Mysore is one of the 40 national research laboratories set up under the aegis of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) India. CFTRI is a large and diversified laboratory which has a fascination to pursue in-depth research and development in the areas of food science and technology. It employs over 300 scientists, technologists, and engineers, and over 400 technicians, skilled workers, and support staff. There are sixteen research and development departments, including laboratories focusing on food biotechnology, microbiology, sensory science, and food safety. The institute has designed over 300 products, processes, and equipment types. It holds several patents and has released many publications. India is the second largest food producer in the world, and the institute is engaged in research in the production and handling of grains, pulses, oilseeds, spices, fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and poultry. The institute develops technologies to increase efficiency and reduce postharvest losses, add convenience, increase export, find new sources of food products, integrate human resources in food industries, reduce costs, and modernize.
PURPOSE 1. To establish an organization for scientific industrial research and this will be a selffinanced R&D in the country. 2. To provide a global platform for competitive Research & Development and high-quality science-based technical services in the country. 3. To become a vital source of science and technology for national societal missions which provide a human face to the organizations endeavours.
OBJECTIVES To generate and apply knowledge of food science and food technology for optimal conservation and utilization of the nation's food resources. To integrate scientific and technological knowledge into conventional and traditional systems and practices, and local and regional realities. To add value and utility to agro-resources through R&D and contribute to sustained development, food security and food safety. To aid and promote the development of food industry through inter-disciplinary, innovative and state-of-the-art solutions. To set national standards for food quality, and spread food quality consciousness all around. To have a sustained leadership in long-term strategic research and technology development. To integrate the food supply chain from the cultivator to the consumer so that cultivators get optimal returns from processing, and consumers get the food that they want, when they want, where they want, in whatever form they want and at affordable cost. To build and bolster bonds with nodal agencies from the global to the grassroots level, particularly in the area of multi-level human resources development. To develop new knowledge continuously, to address contemporary challenges and answer future emergencies.

My Views on Organisation
Indian Economy has been one of the starts of worldwide economies in recent year with gradually increasing its contribution in the world GDP. Talking about the Indian economy in context of food production it holds the second position in the world, as we know that our agriculture sector is not so technological strong as other economies, so in order to have strong technological support in area of agriculture one should focus more on research techniques, production & high quality of tools to gain productivity and effectivity in this sector. Central food technological research institute (CFTRI) is an organisation which take care of this part (food production) by providing global platform for competitive research & development and high quality science based technical services in the country As we know that larger part of economy is engaged in this sector for their livelihood & earnings so a major focus should be on this sector to make it competitive strong than others, Central food technological research institute (CFTRI) is one such initiative which integrate scientific & technological knowledge into conventional and traditional system & practices for the betterment and upliftment of this sector, the contribution of the CFTRI to the economy in such a manner that it provide 1) Research in production & handling of grain which increase productivity & efficiency of grain. 2) It develops technologies to find new sources of food product which attract more no of human resource in food industry. So ultimately this organisation increases the effectiveness of food production growth in india and create awareness in the Indian economy about various technology (related to food production) to increase productivity of the economy.
