RATIONALE:
“Information Technology (IT) has evolved over the past decades in response to the need for
more efficient techniques to manage the significantly increased volume and sophistication of the
knowledge reservoir of mankind. It merges the study of Computer Science, Telecommunications
and Office Automation; involves the collection, storage, accessing, processing, and
dissemination of information and impacts on both work and leisure activities.
In a world characterized by technological innovation and computerized responses to situations in
the workplace and in the wider society, all students will need to have practical exposure to the
techniques of Information Technology to bridge the widening gap between Caribbean nations
and the developing countries and provide our students with the best chances for survival and
growth in this new age.
AIM:
“This course aims to provide the kind of practical experience which includes an element of
discovery and foster self-confidence, together with the practical skills that will prepare students
to meet the Belizean society need for greatly increased productivity and cost-effective
procedures. At the end of the four years of study, students should sit the Caribbean Examinations
Council Exam and perform to the utmost of their potential getting score grades between I and
III.”

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
The methods of instruction will include, but are not limited to the following:

COURSE EXPECTATIONS
Students are expected to do research and read additional updated literature.
Students are supposed to bring in materials when asked to do so.
Students are asked to demonstrate good teamwork when put in groups to work.
Students are responsible for material taught during their absence from school.
Students should take responsibility to consult with teacher about any difficulties that they might
encounter during the sessions.
