How Certifications Can Enhance

Opportunities
Professional certifications can be an important way for individuals who want to
become SAP professionals to enhance their opportunities and advance their careers.
Hello and welcome to How Certifications Can Enhance Opportunities.
Here are a few ways in which professional certifications can help you:
Demonstrating expertise:
Professional certifications provide a way for you
to demonstrate your expertise in a particular area of SAP technology.
Suppose you are interested in SAP S/4HANA.
A certification allows you to demonstrate interest and expertise.
Improving job prospects:
Having a certification can set you apart from other candidates and
demonstrate your commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
A certification doesn’t guarantee you will get the position you are seeking or a particular salary,
but with certifications, you can stand out as a candidate in your job search.
Keeping up with technology trends:
The SAP technology landscape constantly evolves, with new products and solutions
being released regularly to meet customer demands and take advantage of new technologies.
You may be able to position yourself in an area of high demand.
Enhancing credibility:
Holding a certification demonstrates a level of commitment, personal maturity, and focus.
Certifications are highly valued by SAP and SAP partners.
But which SAP Certification is right for you?
This depends upon your skills, interests, and career goals.
Let’s discuss some current examples of SAP Certifications.
SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP careeRecord:
This certification validates knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of the SAP S/4HANA ERP
system,
including financials, logistics, and a basic understanding of SAP Activate methodology.
SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP Analytics Cloud:
This certification validates knowledge and skills in working with SAP Analytics Cloud,
a cloud-based analytics solution that helps
organizations analyze data from a variety of sources.
SAP Certified Development Associate - SAP Cloud Platform:
This certification validates knowledge and skills
in developing applications on the SAP Cloud Platform.
This means working with data, creating user interfaces, and integrating with other systems.
SAP Certified Development Associate - ABAP with SAP NetWeaver:
This certification is for those who want to demonstrate their skills in
developing ABAP applications using SAP NetWeaver.
It covers areas such as data dictionary objects,
programming techniques, and working with the ABAP Workbench.
SAP Certified Technology Associate - SAP HANA:
This certification validates knowledge and skills in the installation,
configuration, and administration of SAP HANA.
This means running analytics and data processing and integrating.
Utilize SAP Build for Low-Code/No-Code
Applications and Automations for Citizen Developers:
This learning journey, which is designed to prepare you for certification,
will introduce the basic concepts of low-code/no-code software development
and how to build applications and automations without writing any code.
The specific certifications that are most valuable for an individual can
depend on their career goals and the areas of SAP technology in which they specialize.
How do you choose a certification?
First, consider where you want to be in the business.
You will need to ask yourself where you fit in. Are your interests more technical or functional?
Do you think of yourself as technically oriented or business oriented?
If you see yourself more as technical, you may look for a certification that
includes developing applications, working with data, or creating user interfaces.
If you see yourself more as business-oriented, you might look
for a certification that includes analytics or processes such as delivery and billing.
Consider the big picture when you choose a certification.
How specialized do you want to become?
Do you simply want to demonstrate experience in an area for the short-term benefit or
complete a certification as a first step in a longer process?
Consider the larger goal of what the certification will mean for you in your overall career plans.
Let’s recap.
Certifications can enhance opportunities and help advance careers.
Obtaining a certification does not guarantee any particular outcome.
But, certifications allow you to demonstrate expertise, improve job
prospects, keep up with technology trends, and enhance credibility.
The right certification for you depends upon your skills, interests, and career goals.
Consider where you want to be when you choose a certification.

Industry Certifications
Highlighting your technology skills is one of the best ways to be a competitive applicant during a
job search. Obtaining certification in subjects related to your field enables you to show
employers your commitment to developing skills in your field. In addition to SAP certifications,
industry certifications are available as well.

IT Certifications
We will begin with some examples of well-known IT certifications and typical relevant positions
associated with them.

ITIL Foundation v4 focuses on the fundamental knowledge to manage the IT infrastructure in

an organization and provides learners with a detailed understanding of different methods,
frameworks, and principles of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). It
covers fundamental IT information applicable to almost any IT professional.

CompTIA A+ is a common entry-level IT technician or support specialist certification.

CompTIA A+ focuses on topics such as repairing and configuring mobile devices, setting up and
configuring basic networks, hardware, gaming systems, cloud basics, and troubleshooting
hardware and network issues.

Microsoft offers a number of certifications focused on Microsoft products. Microsoft Certified

Solutions Expert (MCSE) is designed for systems administrators or engineers.

Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) is designed for software developers or

engineers.

The Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Certification covers a wide range of IT skills and
concepts, including networking, security, databases, and programming.

Google offers the Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect, designed for cloud architects
or engineers.

Specialized IT Certifications
Certificates are designed for database administrators, network administrators, and security
specialists.

The Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Database Administrator Certification validates

skills in managing and maintaining Oracle databases.

CompTIA Network + validates skills in troubleshooting, configuring, and managing networks.

The Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) Certification focuses on basic
networking concepts like network protocols, LAN and WAN technologies, and IP addressing.
The CompTIA Security+ validates the baseline skills necessary to perform core security
functions.

These are just a sampling of IT certifications. There are many certifications available for IT
professionals. Keep in mind that while these certifications can help demonstrate your knowledge
and expertise, they may not be the only qualifications necessary for a particular position.

Project Management Certifications

Of course, IT is not the only area for certification. The Project Management Professional
(PMP) Certification is widely recognized and respected in the industry and demonstrates
expertise in project management principles and practices.

The Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) Certification covers Agile principles and practices,
including Scrum, Lean, and Kanban, and can help you lead Agile teams and projects.

The Professional Scrum Master (PSM) Certification validates understanding of Scrum

principles, practices, and values.

Earning certifications can show potential employers that you are a valuable contributor to your
profession and a life-long learner. Certifications can also boost your confidence and make you
more job ready for a successful career start.
