The client Princess Joy F. Onia have some difficulties to pay her boarding
house rent fee at San Juan Aborlan. Based on interview to princess mother said that
on last April 15, 2023, on that year her mother could not give some support for her
study because all of her father’s salary and financial assistance from 4P’s is only
enough for their house and for the vitamins of her Grandchild the son of Princess joy
who having down syndrome.
In the morning of March 29, 2023 Princess called her mother on phone to
send her money to pay her Boarding house rent and that day is the last day for them
to go boarding house and pay their rent and one month balance but Princess Mother
Allien told her that she don’t have enough money for that because her father Juan
Onia is having some sickness and she need to buy some medicine for her father.
On the next day princess called her boyfriend to lend some money for her
boarding house rent fee Princess called sometimes to her boyfriend if it is needed or

Php500.00 to pay for her boarding house rent fee and princess went to her building
manager to beg to accept her 500 pesos payment she begged to give her a few more
days to pay in full.

The client is 20 years old. She has a positive attitude; her face is round and has
a dimple on the left side of her face. She has nice personality and a good person. she
graduated in Inagawan School when she was in Elementary level and she graduated
in Secondary and senior high school at Palawan National high School. Princess has a
financial problem since She was high school until College because her parents do not
have enough income to sustain their daily needs, her parents give her 200 pesos as
her weekly allowance but often they have nothing to give because of this she is unable
to pay for her boarding house and she often runs out a stock of food in her boarding
house but Princess Joy used her situation to strive harder and pursue her dreams.

Luckily the client was blessed because they are qualified as one of the 4P’s
member in their municipality. And that financial problem got less and give her
courage to don’t stop dreaming for her success. The client was originated from Pasig
City Manila. She and her family only go to church every Sunday. According to her
board mate, the client is a diligent child as she always does all household chores
inside their boarding house, she is also polite while talking to people older than her.
The client is observed to be talkative and has self-esteem she has a strong sense of
willingness to pursue her dreams as she shares that she wants to be successful
someday, have her own house, car, and help her family get away from poverty.
Princess shared that she loves reading books, she always spends her vacant time in
their school’s library to read books with her circle of friends. Some of her friends and
classmates shared during an interview that Princess is a friendly child, she is
approachable and active in class, and this was confirmed on the observed behavior of
the client during interview and meetings.

Princess Joy Onia is also a working student but because of pandemic the
owner of the food store she told Princess Joy Onia to find some new job because their
store will close because of lack of customer and that time even it is pandemic her
mother in Inagawan is still working on their neighbor house to give some support for
her children.

C. Family

The family’s income falls below the poverty threshold as according to the
parents, they only earn 9,500 pesos per month which is not enough to provide all the
needs of the family. It is observed during a home visit that the family members are
close to each other every time Princess Joy comes home to their house she firstly
does “Pag mamano” to her parents, they talk to each other with respect and the
family also often talk about their financial problems and her siblings are always
happy when princess returns to their home because her siblings always ask to teach
them to the assignment and the parents seem to have care to their children and
willing to participate in the conducted interview. The client’s mother said; her
husband Juan is a responsible father to their family. Her father is farmer and her
mother are unemployed because she always take care of Grandson Kyenn asher O.
Bundal who is having down syndrome son of Princess Joy.

Princess was living with her family in Barangay Inagawan Sub but now she is
living in San Juan Aborlan to pursue her study. Princess is the first child in Onia’s
family. Princess parents buy a land and build a house when she is elementary and
after more than 2 years, she left her home to go in San Juan Aborlan to pursue her
study in college.

D. Environment

The family is living in a rural area with peaceful community along with their
neighborhood. The clients house is always clean and orderly. Most of the people in
their community engaged in farming. The client family has a positive attitude with
their neighbors, they get invited to birthday parties often, especially the children,
they also participate in church and community activities. There are also basic
facilities that can be found in the community such as; Churches, Primary and
Secondary School, Barangay office. She is very active and talkative at school she also
likes taking care of animals, especially stray animals.

V. ASSESSMENT

The client is stay motivated she used her situation to strive harder and pursue
her dreams. Despite her lack of financial resources, the client fights to survive her
everyday life. Her son and her family gave her the strength and motivation to
overcome all the challenges she faced.

Her mother doesn't have a job, and her father is only working At the farm his
earnings are not enough to sustain the needs of the family, especially now that their
children are growing, goods, medicine, particularly basic needs are becoming more
expensive, that is why the client is concerned about her study.

And her parents need to be applied to livelihood programs it will also help a
lot to have enough resources of income. and the client needs to be applied to a
scholarship program that can sustain her studies until she graduates and to pursue
her dreams and help her mother and father in the present time.

If the Parents is don’t have enough source of income there is a possibility that
they will not be able to sustain the needs of their children. They may not be able to
perform they parenting roles, which means they may not be a productive parent to
their children and this situation might be the reason for client to not being able to
continue her studies if this problem is not resolved.

VI. THEORETICAL FREAMEWORK

Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a model for understanding the

motivations for human behavior. It maps different motivations onto a pyramid, with
each level representing a different human need. Through this theory, the social
worker has a guide to understand of where their client is starting from and what
needs they have yet to fulfill. It is often used in financial planning to help individuals
prioritize their financial goals and needs. If the individual's needs are not met, it can
lead to frustration and hopelessness, and the person will not become effectively
motivated. By using the theory of the hierarchy of needs in financial problem-solving,
individuals can prioritize their financial goals and needs based on their level of
importance and relevance to their overall well-being. This can help individuals make
more informed financial decisions and achieve greater financial. stability and
security. In the client's case, she was seeking financial support in order to satisfy and
meet her needs, which is why she was facing problems.
