Before answering the question-paper candidates should ensure that they have been supplied
to correct and complete question-paper. No complaint, in this regard, will be entertained
after the examination.

Note : Attempt Four questions in all. All questions carry equal marks.

1. (a) Show that the relation of congruence modulo m, defined on the set of integers
by a  b  mod m  is an equivalence relation.

(b) Let A and B two sets, then A  B   A  B    B  A  . Verify this result for
A = [1, 2, 3] and B = {2, 3, 4, 5}.

2. (a) Is an injective map from a set to itself a surjective map ? Give reasons.
(b) Let f and g be two mappings. Define composition of f and g. Further show
that f o g (x)  g o f (x) by a suitable example.

3. (a) Explain syntax, semantics, stability, validity along with one example of each.
(b) Discuss various connectives of logics along with their truth values.
